Re: stuffed nose constantly!!!!
I know your solution, thank me later, my email is miltonluban@hotmail.com Trust me forget the ENT's I have tried them too many times as I once suffered the same as you are.
Your problem is 100% allergies. Forget your Primary care DR, and your ENT. Go to a allergist! If you live in the New York area I have a great one, get tested to see if your allergic to anything, but in the mean time try a decongestion, over the counter, twice a day, and a sinus rinse, it uses saline water wash, twice a day, and get yourself over to the allergist ASAP. That's your solution!
SO many people suffer from what you are! and they go to there primary Dr, the ENT and no one goes to the right DR which in this case is the allegist! So get going and see a good one!!!!
It's always the last thing to do after they have suffered for so much time!

Re: stuffed nose constantly!!!!
My nose has always been stuffed up. My ENT says my nasal passages are very swollen. He put me on Singulair to see if it would help. He'll see me on one month for a follow up. I think that if this doesn't help (which it hasn't) he'll fix my deviated septum to see if that fixes it. Flonase doesn't work for me. But that's the only prescription I've tried. Well, it works for maybe an hour and then im stuffed up again. I don't have post nasal drip or any runny sinuses, just stuffed up. Grr. I hope someday soon it'll be fixed.
He ordered a CT scan on my sinuses and it showed my sinus cavities were fine.

I wish you luck in your search for a solution to your sinus problem, as i am affected the same way for years, and i have yet to be impressed by the medical profession in this department and i have been to them all. For some reason, i get the feeling that if you are sucessful in getting fixed up, you are one of the lucky ones!

Try getting off of all dairy for about a week or two and see if it helps. I'd been stuffy my entire adult life, and I took an advanced freediving class and the instructor insisted on no dairy (or soy, which they put in everything now) for 3 days before our dives (stuffed nasal cavities are terrible if you try to freedive down to 75 feet).
All of a sudden I was much more open than usual, and I've since recommended eliminating dairy to 3 other friends with similar problems and they were impressed how within a week they could breathe better than they could remember. If you want to take it even further, look up an anti-inflammatory diet and try to stick to that. Acid forming foods and things we get way too much of like flour and gluten can cause inflammation.

Go to an acupunturist. It only took a few visits and my Aunt's issue went away for good. She had the same problem, and I do too. I am going to start going to one, as I have tried everything from allergy pills, sprays, prescriptions, neti pot, to oregano oil and other herbal remedies - with no success. I don't smoke, I eat extremely healthy (no processed foods or refined sugars and all organic), I exercise every day at least an hour, and have no allergies. It is very annoying.

Re: stuffed nose constantly!!!!
Hi there,
I have had a blocked nose for 11 years. I can't breathe through my nose only through my mouth which makes it really hard to sleep, i'm up most of the night due to my blocked nose. Not being able to smell sucks and not being able to taste my food is worse. I've been to the doctors so many times over the years and he only prescribes me nasal sprays that don't even work. Otrivine only partially unblocks my nose temporarily and no matter how much I blow my nose it's like the mucus is never ending and actually makes it worse. It's so bad that it feels like my nose is taped down with duct tape or something and it's getting hard to swallow now coz it's like it's all down my throat.
So over this.......
blocked nose

Re: stuffed nose constantly!!!!
As you can see from the diversity of responses you've got, there are a lot of possible causes of your symptoms, and even still they could combine in complicated ways to make it even more difficult to isolate the source. It takes a lot of time and trying many different things to figure out what works for you. I would start with nasal irrigation as suggested in this thread, which is an ancient and relatively safe practice. As I mentioned in another thread you can also use a modern and convenient spray like Sinox (http://sinoxspray.com/). As you do this regularly you will learn about your symptoms and how to manage them, and you can continue to try new experiments. Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions!

Re: stuffed nose constantly!!!!
I have a similar problem of stuffy nose. I use nose irrigation techniques at least twice a day. I also avoid irritants that trigger off sinus such as exhaust fumes, secondary smoke.
Your problem maybe getting aggravated because you "don't have post nasal drip". Nasal irrigation should loosen the accumulated mucus in your nose and sinuses and make it easier to be expelled.
Coincidentally I also use Sinox Nasal spray which the previous respondent has mentioned and I have found it to be very useful in treating Sinus. Nasal irrigation and preventive measures are what work for me.

Re: stuffed nose constantly!!!!
I sympathize with constant stuffy nose, have had it for 20+ years, have had turbinates removed, allergy tests, etc. Google or other search VASOMOTOR RHINITIS, this may be your problem. Treatments are not real successful. I am going to try the daily flush with saline after reading messages above and discussing with medical people. Pseudophed helps in short term but not a permanent solution. Good luck to all you snarkers out there.
