probably a nerve in your spine being squeezed by a small disc lesion.(note:discs do not slip.)it will probably resolve itself if you take it easy.dont be tempted to try to exercise your way out of it.just possibly the outcome of a small stroke but i really dont think so.give it a few weeks,if no progress see the doctor.

good advice ,this above.but since it is getting worse it is less likely to be stroke, but it does indicate that your activity level is too high to permit resolution.rest it properlyuntil it is significantly better.dont do stretching and bending to try to fix it .that is how to make it a permanent problem.exercise gently later when you are getting better.walking is good,in the recovery phase .reading while lying down is good in the acute phase.

Ive stretched it as was encouraged but seems to be getting worse.
Tried lifting some heavy boxs this morning and it really began to burn, in fact i got really dizzy and my hand also seems to be very numb. Im putting on 'deep heat' at the moment and trying to get the circulation back by trying some heavy excercise (stair climbing), but it seems weaker, and i feel a bit nauceous.
Is it a disc, or is it poor circulation?

sorry i misunderstood what you meant, but i thought keep moving would be the best.
my leg is still numb at the moment and i think ive got a tummybug as im feeling weak, i have been to the doctor and he also said rest and he tested my eyes for something. i no this may be strange but i have a neighbour who said yoga may be good but it seems to be giving me a terribe headache,
    should i keep practising?
    sorry and thanks again.

rest in the acute phase, gentle exercise in the recovery phase.short walks are good;slowly increasing in distance.no stretching.no yoga until you feel o.k.you will know when you are ready for walks when the pins and needles have stopped.as i was wheeled into the operating theatre, the surgeon said to me"if you had lain down for a week when this first happened you wouldnt be here now."learn while you can.my apologies to the person who thinks this discussion isnt entertaining enough.i will try to work in some references to acupuncture and vitamins,oh yes and the healing qualities of oriental medicine.that seems to do the trick in other threads.meanwhile thete is a man here who may be on the way to crippling himself.excuse my priorities.
