I have a problem likes yours as well.I use T Tree shampoo and that calms it down on me but if that don't work then go to your GP and he will give you shampoo with steroid in and that is very affective.Hope this helps you and good luck.Mandy

if i am sorry to say head lice has been ruled out {treated with Nix )shampoo it happens. if it still persists you shoud be checked for diabeties witch can cause itching.

This could be an allergy-- rather than talking to your GP or dermatologist, why not see an allergist. It could be any thing from your pillowcases to diet to hair dye that is triggering your itches. Allergies can give weird symptoms, and an itchy scalp is just one. Also look into Psoraisis. Also try using a mild hair "dressing" on your scalp, like V05-- might make your hair look oilier, but if your scalp is very very dry, it may soothe the itch and allow it to heal a bit...

i have similar problems itchy scalp sore and red and all shampoo makes it worse and i tried steroid and that did not help. i finally discovered i had seborrheic capatis dermatitis. what helps me is a shampoo called selsan and make sure you buy a shampoo without sodium lauryl sulphate in it. it will take a week ot two to notice a difference so keep trying. also aloe vera gel might help.or also neutrogena t gel shampoo.

Try using organic, olive oil based mayonnaise (I used Spectrum brand from my health food store) and put it all over your head, and rub it into your scalp. Keep massaging for quite a long time, then cover with a shower cap or saran wrap (it runs if you don't) and leave on for as long as possible. Use a mild, ORGANIC baby shampoo or something without SLS to wash it out; you'll have to shampoo twice, at least. Burt's Bees makes a nice baby bar shampoo, or just do a general web search for organic shampoo.
This regimen, done two or three times weekly, really helps.
The problem is that SOMETHING is causing the itch, and you need to address that, as well. I agree with the above poster. See an allergist or a nutritionist (if you have one in your area - not a dietician, a nutritionist - they're different). There is probably something foody or environmental (like carpets or something) causing this.
Possibly even thyroid problems or autoimmune problems of some sort, but I'd start with the food/allergy possibilities.
Hope that's helpful to you.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Always do what you want, and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind. – Dr. Seuss

Re: problems with my scalp can anyone help me
ONE OF MY MASSAGE CLIENTS IS A BEAUTICIAN. SHE HAS A DAUGHTER WITH A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND SHE WASHES HER HAIR ONCE A WEEK WITH BAKING SODA. GET HAIR WET AND SPRINKLE A GOOD BIT OF IT IN HAIR AND ADD MORE WATER AND BRING TO A GOOD LATHER. RINSE AND REPEAT. FOR SOME REASON, SOME PEOPLE'S pH GETS OUT OF BALANCE AND IT CAUSES ITCHING. THE BAKING SODA NEUTRALIZES THE ACID AND BRINGS SCALP INTO A MORE ALKALINE ENVIRONMENT AND IT CLEANS THE HAIR FROM BUILD UP (INCLUDING BACTERIAS, ETC)TOO. THIS SEEMS TOO HELP ALOT. SHE'S IN 2ND GRADE AND WHEN SHE RUNS AROUND ALOT AND GETS TOO SWEATY, THAT'S WHEN SHE RUNS INTO ITCHING. LUCKY FOR HER, HER MOM OWNS A SALON AND KNOWS WHAT TO DO!!!
THIS IS A WEEKLY RITUAL, QUITE INEXPENSIVE, GOOD FOR ANYONE (REMOVES HAIRSPRAY, GEL, RESIDUE) AND BALANCES pH OF SCALP. BE SURE TO RUB SCALP VIGOROUSLY WHEN APPLYING. DID YOU COLOR YOUR HAIR OR START ON THE PILL , OR ANYTHING DIFFERENT WHEN THIS STARTED? GOOD LUCK
