Re: chronic bacterial vaginosis that won't go away
I need help. I have had BV for about 3 years now. It is getting worse. I have given up on my gyno and i think they have given up on me too. I am constantly getting a mix between utis, yeast infections, and bv. i recently started experimenting with probiotics and havent really helped too much, maybe a little. I recently started taking echanicea? for immune health and womens daily multi-vitamin. I am tired of going to the doctor 24/7 to get medication for this. It gets so bad it leaks through my underwear and gets on my pants and skin sometimes. It doesnt have too bad of an odor; just smells like everyday women's crotch smell. N it is clear/whitish for the most part. i have to stick toilet paper inside of me to stop it from leaking all over but it even goes through the toilet paper. when i wake up and stand up, it all falls out like i am starting my period..plesae help!!

Re: chronic bacterial vaginosis that won't go away
IMPORTANT!!
If you’re having reoccurring BV it's a symptom not the problem. The problem is your eating habits. You can try every remedy in the world but if you’re not eating right then that Shi*t WILL come right back, trust me. I've battled with BV for over 5 years & one day out the blue my body's immune system just went hay wire. This exact same thing happened 3 years ago. I couldn't eat sugar, bread, milk NOTHING. Shortly after the discovery of not being able to eat all the things I love, I did some research and came to the conclusion that I had a FULL BLOWN yeast infection. I had to change my diet up in order to get rid of the SH*T. What I didn't notice, 3 years back, is that after I changed my diet, my BV diminished. Well long story short, I got rid of the Candida and went right back to eating super unhealthy. BAM that nasty BV came RIGHT back & I suffered with it on and off for another two years. Recently my body went through another Candida episode so I decided to make some lifestyle changes. First I started making my own yogurt (far better & stronger then store bought yogurt & super cheap), started taken herbal remedies to get rid of the fungus and bought me a juicer. In the first two weeks of eating my yogurt and taking my herbs, I started feeling a little better but the miracle really occurred when I started eating/ juicing more alkaline veggies & drinking unsweetened freshly brewed green tea. Something about the antioxidants sweeps the Candida and BV right away.
The crazy thing about all this is that I've read several times that if your having reoccurring BV that you must change your eating habits. I've tried several times but it never stuck. The reason being is because eating 4 to 5 servings of veggies every day can be exhausting BUT if you juice it , you can get all the nutritional stuff down in literally 5 minutes. Another thing is that juicing helps you absorb more antioxidates and vitamins esp. if you have a week digestive system.

Re: chronic bacterial vaginosis that won't go away
I'm a physician who has had some success with what may seem a little unusual. Many people are deficient in dietary iodine, and the current RDA is ridiculously low. I see patients all the time with thyroid nodules, for example, and these are from insufficient levels of iodine in the body. If your kidneys are functioning normally, and you are not on thyroid replacement therapy, then get a bottle of iodoral (least expensive is at swansonvitamins.com - and I have no financial interest in Swanson Vitamins). Take one tablet a day (12.5 mg tablet, and more is not better, so only one per day). Iodine helps regulate every tissue in the body, but in women especially the breasts and ovaries. You may notice some changes in your menstrual cycle for a couple of cycles, but continue to take the iodoral. I've had several patients happily find that their BV goes away in 1-3 months of taking iodoral. Some of the dietary suggestions in other replies are good (especially from the doctor of oriental medicine). You may also notice a decrease in breast pain and lumpiness, if you have those symptoms. In addition, if you have symptoms of hypothyroidism, you should also have some relief from those.
Several good studies have also shown that proper levels of iodine decrease the risk of breast cancer and colon cancer.
Good luck!
Dr. B

Re: chronic bacterial vaginosis that won't go away
Ladies This may help you!
For three months straight I had whitish yellowish discharge, itching and pretty sore around the opening. I went to the clinic four differenttimes each time seeing a different doctor. The first three times it was thesame thing, they would take a swab and I was told I had BV and was givenmedication to treat it. Nothing made a difference. I was tested for STD’s andall came back negative. I went back a fourth time and in tears told the doctor Iwas tired of it and I want it to stop already that the medications are notworking. She made sure I had been tested for chlamydia and other STD’s because itcould be the cause. When she found out I tested negative she explained to methat it is possible that there is something else, she took a swab and went tolook under the scope. She said right away the first obvious answer was BV butshe took the time to really examine it and found something else. It is easilymissed and dismissed as just BV. Trichomoniasis is the most common curable STDbut not commonly tested for. It has the EXACT same symptoms as BV. p ofpeople that have this does not even know they have it because they have nosymptoms but when you do have the symptoms it is just like BV. The cure is thesame medication as for chlamydia. I took the medication and literally withinhours I noticed a difference and by the next day no more discharge. It is notanything exciting to say you have an STD but the truth is it is extremely easyto get one because like I said most people don’t have any symptoms at all andjust pass it around. If you have sex one time without a condom or even with one(as my doctor said you are dealing with fluids they can leak out) you can getan STD. The only way you are tested for Trich is by an examination then a swabis sent off to the lab that takes about a week. If you have had BV for a periodof time and the medications are not working this could very well be the issue. Insteadof waiting the easiest thing to do is go to your clinic and tell them you mayhave been exposed to chlamydia (only because it is the same medication) andthey should just give you a prescription right there and then.

Re: chronic bacterial vaginosis that won't go away
hi. i've had chronic bv and yeast infections for about 20 years. i'm now 44. i was also diagnosed with vulvodynia, but i think maybe it was just bv. the only thing is, my bv doesn't involve a bad smell, and it also HURTS. it does usually go away with tinidazol, but it always comes back.
i live in mexico, and i haven't found probiotics available here. i'm not sure i can get them sent through the mail, either. does anyone have any specific suggestions? thanks....

Re: chronic bacterial vaginosis that won't go away
I had bacterial vaginosis that started after a menstrual cycle. After much research I decided to try the probiotics orally as we'll as vaginally. It didn't help much after one week but I continued using them because I figured it might take longer for them to work and wouldn't hurt one bit to keep up with it. The following week I was still experiencing symptoms so I keep researching on the Internet. That's when I came across this forum and somebody recommended a vaginal vitamin c tablet made specially for BV. Thats when i decided to insert a pea size amount of pure vitamin c powder vaginally at bed time. It burned and itched moderately for 10 minutes or so. But in the morning the smell was totally gone! I continued to use for several nights just in case it came back but it didn't come back. Since then, I have used it after my period a couple of times just in case it came back but it didn't come back even once. I bought the vitamin c powder at a whole foods market. It's called NOW vitamin C Crystals.

I tried to,post this before twice but it didn't seem to post so I'm trying again. Hope it helps some in some way.

Re: chronic bacterial vaginosis that won't go away
I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis 3 months ago. I took flagyl but it never went away. After reading numerous forums about women taking many antibiotics and this not going away I decided to do more investigating. The issue with taking antibiotics is that you NEED to know what you have so you can take the right one. I bought the V Book and it set me on a path that there are many bacteria out there. Bv is trttreated with one antibiotic that kills 90 percent of the bacteria that cause bv...what about the other 10 percent?? My vagina was burning for three months straight and I was diagnosed with IC About 12 years ago but it was mild. I asked my do for to test for mycoplasma genetalium. They also tested for urea plasma. I am in Vancouver Canada and not one lab tests for that here so she sent it to Manitoba to CDS. The centre for disease control. It took about 3 weeks to get the results and it came back with ureaplasma parvum. I have started a 14 day treatment of doxycycline and already feel better after 3 days. I am very hopeful this will cure my bv and ic. This is tested for often in fertility clinics as it can cause miscarriages. So if your doctor won't do it then demand it and go elsewhere.
My doctor wanted to keep throwing antibiotics at me without knowing what it was and I would not stand for that. I told her that just because she isn't familiar with something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I did a lot of research and also said to her that nobody cares about my body more than me and I am determined not to live like this.
I am very excited to see the final outcome of my issues and I really can't stress enough that if you have chronic bv or ic then you need to be checked for this. Many people have it that don't have symptoms but if you do then it can ruin your life. You owe to yourself to find a way to be tested. It is unfortunate that so many women are told that it just "reoccurs".. Did the doctor ever think that maybe they are treating the wrong thing??
I wish you all luck and there may be hope out there for you! I will report back soon.
