Ongoing coughing yellow phegm/sputum and nasal drip

I was working in the garage for a few hours with no prior health issues yet the garage was dusty with paint dust residue on the floor and the wife was vaccuming the house and our central vac does not have an exhaust filter.....dust was entering the garage and I am only allergic to large quantities..........that day I started developing a sore throat which turned into fever for 2 days. I took Zpak antibiotics for 5 days starting the first day and went to work on the 3rd day.....on the fifth day I had some minor shortness of breath and increasing amounts of nasal yellow muscus and I am coughing out blobs of yellow mucus 10+ times per day...I went to ER for blood / flu tests and xray and they diagnosed me with sinusitis eventhough and I had no congestion pain just constant nasal drip and coughing out sputum/phlegm. They put me on Medrol(sterioids) and Ceftin antibiotic with no change in symptoms....the only thing that helps is Claritin 24hrs but the symptoms come back within 12 hrs.....it is now 2 weeks and giving up hope...please help!

Sounds like lingering sinusits. My doc gave me flonase as well and overdrink fluids, particularly water. You can as try the moder netti pot, better as a preventitive or for use at first onset, NeilMed Nasal Rinse available at any big drug store. Many kinds but I find the squeeze bottle to be the best. use for 3-4 days and that usually does the trick. Lastly, I had always been given regular Claratin. I tried the 24-hour Claratin D and find it to be far, far superior and applicable to my sypmtoms. Regular claratin just attackes the eye & runny nose sypmtoms but Claratin D will open up your sinuses. Good LUck
