Severe pain in hands and feet!!
Hi, I am an 18 year old girl. I am a cheerleader wich may have somthing to do with my problem. I have severe pain in my hands and my feet, sometimes my ankles and wrists. The pain is worse at night but latley happens during activity. I was tested for diabetes, arthritis, and lyme disease. All came out negative. Also pain increases during stress and changes in weather. The only way it feels better is if major pressure is placed on hands and feet, wich then feels better for a minute then hurts again. I feel as though my fingers and toes are stiff and need to be cracked... it's so confusing because it sounds so much like arthritis...can anyone help please?!

Re: Severe pain in hands and feet!!
I am dealing with the 'same; thing; pain in hands and feet. It has gotten severe. It worsens when I lay down. i am considering acupuncture. I had an MRI done on my back to see if it was pinched nerves or something. That came back negative. You can contact me at psalm37three@aim.com and we can converse as to what may relieve pain or maybe one of us may find the right doctor to diagnosis this problem.
My mom said go to a heart specialist and make sure there is no blockages. They would give me an I.V. with dye in it and then watch my heart pump on a monitor. I'm speaking to my Dr. about it next week. I hurt.

Re: Severe pain in hands and feet!!
I am a 46yr. old woman and I too have severe pain in my hands, feet and neck. I have struggled with it for years. I have had every test you can imagine all to no avail as to what it is. Sometimes it almost feels like my body is allergic to itself. When I get off my feet it is worse. Very hard pressure or squeezing of my hands and feet help for a few minutes, but then it returns in minutes. Whatever this condition is, I would love to know. I have been struggling with it on and off for approx. 23yrs. and when it occurs it can be very dibilitating. In comes on out of know where and can last several days to a few weeks and then disappears as quickly as it comes!

Re: Severe pain in hands and feet!!
Try checking into Fabry Disease. One of the symptoms is hand and foot pain. (Neuropothy) There are several symptoms to watch for and if you are female, they seem to be affected differently than a male showing classic symptoms. It's a complicated disease to diagnose and the neuropothy can be very painful.

Re: Severe pain in hands and feet!!
Acupuncture can be very helpful for this problem. If you are still doing cheerleading your pain will continue, however. I would get acupuncture treatments when you are on hiatus from cheerleading, to allow yourself time to heal.
Best wishes

I have the same exact problem you're having and i have also had blood work done and been tested for arthritis which so far has come back negative. I am currently seeing a rheumatologist and although nothing has been confirmed yet, he says that my symptoms sound like fibromyalgia and another doctor has told me that it may be nerve damage. My next appointment is toward the end of January so i should know more then when my test results come in.

For those of you who have sufferred for a long time, I would encourage you to get a test for Fabry's Disease -- especially if you also have angiokeratomas (red spots), frequent intestinal upset, and/or decreased sweating.

My daughter is a 13-year old multi-sport athlete. Her symptoms and tests sound so similar to yours. Have you found out anything else since this post?? My daughter was just diagnosed with JuvenileFibromyalgia - but it seems like just a guess by the Dr. I hope you have found some answers!

Re: Severe pain in hands and feet!!
oomilkdud, Have you been properly diagnosed since you posted your message?? My wife has the EXACT same symptoms as you and she has been tested for EVERYTHING (Lyme, diabetes, arthritis, MS, neurological........ect). She is going to get tested again for Lyme disease b/c are neighbor was tested for Lyme disease 4 times before she was tested positive. Supposedly there is another Lyme test called a box test or something like that. My wife is young (34yrs old) and is an active runner and she too has pains in her hands and feet and the pain will come and go and shoot back and forth but she has the pain everyday. I know she is not crazy and not a hypochondriac and strangely enough she said her pain seems to increase when it's raining out like you had said with the weather (which has been known to increase the pain for arthritis patients due to extra moisture in the air but again my wife was tested negative for arthritis). My wife's pain is also worse at night (like yours) but that might be b/c she is active during the day and doesn't notice it as much and her pain is worse with stress too (like yours). I hope you reply to this message b/c hopefully we can help diagnose the problem together. My wife doesn’t want to live like this and she is afraid that the pain will get worse b/c she first hand a pain in her finger (I think, don’t quote me on that) 2yrs ago and the pain has increased to what it is now. She also has a weird bruise on the bottom of her foot (which could be completely unrelated but I figured I’d mention it incase anyone else had something similar).
