My Tongue feels like I burned it
For about 2 weks now, my tongue has had the sensation that I burned it. I don't recall burning it besides usually when you burn your tongue it goes away after a day or so. I have been fighting a sinus/ bronchial infection with antibiotics and over the counter meds- could this be causing my tongue to feel burnt?

Re: My Tongue feels like I burned it
Weird, I have the same problem and I am 41. I have had it for at least 2-3 months. The "burned" area is the first inch or so of the tip of my tongue. Sometimes it is pinker there in a perfect semi-circle. Food and wine don't taste as good now, which is the thing that bugs me most.
The doc is treating me for thrush. I hope it works. Please update us here on the forum if you guys figure out what is causing your problem.

Re: My Tongue feels like I burned it
Hi I'm 43 and I'm experiencing similar symptoms for close to a month now. Mine also feels like I burnt it but can't think of when I would have done it. My mouth has felt pasty and I my tonque looks like it has little cuts or something on it. Roof of my mouth also bothers me too sometimes. I too have have sinus problems with post nasal drip. I was also starting to think of thrush. How are you treating the thrush.
Thanks!

Re: My Tongue feels like I burned it
The doc prescribed Nystatin Oral Suspension. It's a sugary tasting mouthwash that I am supposed to use 4 times/day for 5 days. I'm only on Day1. If it works, I'll post about it.
I was on antibiotics back in October, and the problem started after that. Since antibiotics can trigger yeast infections, it makes sense. The perfectly symmetrical semi-circle that the irritated area makes still seems weird to me, though. It seems like thrush would be more random.

A sore tongue can also be a sign of vitamin B2 deficiency

It could also be a virus.

Re: My Tongue feels like I burned it
I have had burnign tongue and gums for 2 years now with NO relief even after 7 kinds of doctors. A rheumetologist diagnosed part of it as Celiac and Sjogren's Syndrone. Neither have a cure or pain reliever. I've tried the mouthwashes but they are for 5 minutes less pain maybe. My teeth have shifted position due to the rubbing I do with my tongue on my teeth, both awake and asleep. But sleep is very little even with Lunesta (2mg) which probably contirbutes to the burning as it is known to cause dry mouth. Anyone have any suiggestions???

Re: My Tongue feels like I burned it
Hi, I am 25 yrs old and have the same burnt sensation on my tongue as well. The only thing that scares me is that when i looked in the mirror my tongue seemed to have split deeply in the middle down the centre surronded by white. I was at the doctors last week getting my throat checked as it was very sore and she did not seem to mention it, so I assume that it must have split whilst I was on anti-biotics.
I am very scared! Can anyone give me some insight to what this symptom relates to?
