Unhappy Deep itching on feet and legs with no rash

I think it must be allergy related because I had not had an "outbreak" all winter, but this past weekend, having spent time outside, my feet strated to itch like mad. No amount of scratching would alleviate the itch and it feels like somethign is under my skin making me itch. It usually travels up my legs and as the spring/summer/fall progresses, it happens every few days or so. It's happens mostly in the evenings. The next day, I migh feel like little "bugs" are crawling on me or biting me all over my body. Zyrtec helps but it makes me really tired and nonfunctional.
I will itch my legs and feet to the point of bleeding.

    Anyone else experience this?

I had this same problem for years. I told my doctors it felt like "itching from within". Lotions and allergy medicine did little to help. I was finally diagnosed with severe iron deficiency. You need to have a complete iron panel done, not just the basic blood work. I had 6 iv iron infusions and haven't had any itching since.

I get this on my feet. It drives me nuts when I have it. I realized it must be from when my feet get hot because I only get it in summer when I've had socks and shoes on or have been sleeping and my feet were covered with a blanket. I also have no rash with it, so I know it can't be athletes foot or anything. For me, anti-itch creams like hydrocortisone was ineffective. I do get relief from athlete's foot sprays though. I think because they are cool. The cool spray brings instant relief.
