What's up with my joints?
I'm 16, I dance, and am in gymnastics so I'm very active. But my joints are always popping, and some randomly give out. Some of my joints hurt when they pop, the popping is sometimes accompanied by a grinding feeling. The popping doesn't bother me much it's just that in the past year I've injured my right ankle and had surgery on it. Then I hurt my right shoulder two months later. Recently I hurt my right knee. My family wants me to quit doing the things I love because I keep getting hurt. Any idea what is causing all this? Please help.

Re: What's up with my joints?
Are you a very flexible person. Have you ever been told you are double jointed. If the answer is yes, you could be hypermobile. This can cause your joints to crack and pop and to randomly give out. You don't need to give up your hobbies, you just need to learn how to adjust them to your body. In fact the fitter you are, the better.
Have a look on the hypermobilty.org website for more info.
