Too young for Fibromyalgia
I am now 19 years old but I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia at the age of 16. I have never met anyone this young that has this disease!! And I remember having all of the symptoms as young a 12 and 13. I'm not sure what caused it and it seems to be getting worse as I get older. I recently got over a flare up where I had bad fibro-fog and anxiety which I learned could all be caused by fibro. I got married a few months ago and I'm pregnant now. Does anyone have any advice? And has anyone ever heard of someone as young as me having this painful disease?
Also, I'm having a lot of problems with working. I've had to quite my job as a nurse a few weeks ago because I was just too tired and I couldn't stand on my feet like that. My boss was making me work 12 hour shifts and I just can't do it. I will have to start working again in July when my baby's born and I don't know what to do?

Re: Too young for Fibromyalgia
Greetings, First of all, i am not familiar with this, "condition" although i have friends that suffer from it, i still don't understand it. My take on said subject is this; You Have Been Poisoned, both by unsuspecting doctors as well as from the food stuffs we eat. Chemicals, chemicals, chemicals, it's a never ending process; "unless" You take charge. First off, you'll need to consult a qualified physician in this arena, healthy food stuffs, herbs, etc, etc. you most probably be instructed about body detox, then go on a journey to naturaly repair the damage that's been done. So with that i wish you all the luck in the world & i shall pray for you as well,, As Always, I Am In His Service. Thank You.

I have been to a qualified physician, I do eat healthy and I have a home business which specifically works in herbs and dietary supplements. This disease is not about what you eat or don't eat anyway and certainly isn't caused by chemicals. Doctors aren't even sure what causes fibro but in a lot of pts it was caused by trauma or some kind of accident. For example, they think that I aquired it after having a bad case of strep throat and scarlet fever when I was younger. This disease is about people learning to live with a chronic disease that you just can't control, sometimes no matter what you do.

Re: Too young for Fibromyalgia
My message, was in my message & that is, when someone has followed every avenue in the pursuit of a lasting cure for a condition & comes up empty. Thank God, for He "Has" provided the way; whether one want's to go this way is entirely up to them, for He will "not" force Himself on anyone. We are all His children & He just want's to help. Thank You, As Always In His Service.

Not Too young for Fibromyalgia
I feel your pain. Literally! I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia when I was 18. It's been 5 years. I've had to take one semester of medical leave as an undergraduate students, and I'm at law school now, barely hanging on to attending full-time. I had to quit my job as legal intern last fall because I couldn't work 12 hours a week on top of my school schedule. It's a humbling condition, because by the end of each semester or job my professors and supervisors know exactly what I have after I've had to explain a significantly high number of absences. Join the fibromyalgia club.
Many people experience only a few years with lots of pain and fatigue, and then go into a sort of remission for decades before it flares up again. I haven't been that lucky. The symptoms haven't improved (they abate a little when I exercise regularly): I still live with pain and severe fatigue. I wish I could give you optomistic advice. The best thing to do is exercise, even though it's hard as **** to stick to it when you're in pain and exhausted; see your doctor about any possible help she can give; and explore treatment options, like massage therapy and accupuncture. They work for some people.

Re: Too young for Fibromyalgia
Good Morning or is it Good Afternoon or is it Good Evening??? I see the time zone & it's either Iceland or England, oh well it does'nt really matter. I'm seeing that you have what my wife has, Pain when she exercises & i'll tell you what i tell her. Honey, you've "got" to do this thing, even if it hurts, i know from personal experience. Mine was a bad back problem, right between the shoulder blades. Two weeks of agony & presto, one morning i woke up "no" pain. Have you googled up natural health care?, if not keep trying until you are satisfied, because my friend there are a lot of folks out there to help. I'll be praying for you; As Always In His Service*

Re: Too young for Fibromyalgia
You already are fatigued and can't function- now your PREGNANT??? Are you on a self-destruct mode??? How do you plan on caring for a baby when you can't even care for yourself??? I hope you have a good support team around you and lots of help with the baby. Babies are exhausting just in themselves plus hauling them around EVERYWHERE YOU GO. i HAD CHRONIC FATIGUE AND FIBRO DIAGNOSED IN 1992 AND THERE WAS NO WAY I COULD HAVE ADDED TO MY PROBLEMS AT THAT TIME. I COULDN'T EVEN FUNCTION, WORK, DRIVE, REMEMBER ANYTHING (LOST MY JOB AS A SECRETARY) EVEN STAY AWAKE MORE THAN 4 HOURS A DAY. BABY IS 24/7!!! GOD BLESS BUT YOU SURE KNOW HOW TO HEAP IT ON!!! I'M NOT TRYING TO BE MEAN-BUT WHAT WERE YOU THINKIN? YOUR ONLY 19 YEARS OLD. TRY TO REST UP NOW BECAUSE YOU ARE BUILDING THAT BABY AND IF YOU ARE EXHAUSTED AND STRESSED- THE BABY WILL SENSE THIS AND BE STRESSED TOO! TRY MEDITATION, DEEP BREATHING, CLASSICAL MUSIC IS GOOD FOR BABY!!
BE SURE SINCE YOU ARE ALREADY DEPLETED- TO EAT RIGHT, TAKE ALL VITAMINS/MINERALS AND SLEEP WELL. YOUR BABY DESERVES A HEALTHY START REGARDLESS OF YOUR CONDITION. GOD BLESS YOUR SPOUSE- HE NEEDS TO ASK FOR ALL THE STRENGTH IN THE WORLD CUZ HE'S GONNA NEED IT. HE'S GONNA HAVE TOO BE STRONG FOR BOTH OF YOU- TIL YOU GET BETTER. FOCUS ON WELLNESS NOT ILLNESS AND KEEP THIS MANTRA- THIS TOO SHALL PASS!!! BEST OF LUCK

Re: Too young for Fibromyalgia
Well Everyone, this is another wonderful day that the Lord has made. Classical Music is exactly what i would prescribe for lowering stress levels. The other day i tryed an experiment & i'm sad to say on my little Bischon, it went like this; I wanted to listen to some music, while working on my computer. Now classical is my favorite, but this day i put on some creedance clear water. My pup perked up his ears & went to the bedroom, so after an apology i put some classical back on. "He Mellowed Right Out"!!! Well so much for that, now back to the subject & how i would deal with it if it were me. First you "Must" place your Faith in our living God,This i believe because he's come to the rescue more times than i can remember. Trying to deal with this problem without Him "is" humanly impossible, unless of cource you would rather face it alone. Your Bible speaks to this by saying that God "is" the Great comforter! Please for the sake of your precious baby & company, take heed to my advice & you will not be sorry you did. As Always; In His Service.

Re: Too young for Fibromyalgia
I am new on these boards and I am sorry to hear you have Fibro at such a young age. There are websites for fibromyalgia and maybe they have info on such a young age. Don't let others put you down for trying to have a life with a disease that no one expects to get. I suffered with bladder symptoms for most of my life, I am now 48 and have the fibro chronic fatigue etc. I was misdiagnosed for so long that I finally had a severe depression and breakdown at age 28 and after that trauma the fibro began. I know any trauma in life can bring it on as well as other things. Different conditions are all can be linked together with it such as migraines, what I have Interstitial cystitis (not a bladder infection) irritable bowel and chronic fatigue. Find out all you can on it and treat it the best you can but you are young and deserve a life and family just you cannot overdue. Working that many hours is not good if possible work part time and care for your baby. Everything in moderation. There's alot of info out there. I had to go on disability and give up my career but I can work some limited hours and the rest yes I am disabled but I do my best to have a life of some sort. Not what I wanted but it is possible to a degree. Good luck and keep us posted. If you need to get n touch with me just ask and we can arrange to communicate further.
