I'm scared i won't be able to concieve children.
Hi i'm new to this forum but i thought this might be a good idea to vent out here. Maybe i can get some advise. I'm 26 years old and my periods have always been irregular. When i'm on birth controll pills they do the trick and i soon become regular. I have tried 3 different types of birth controll pills and none have solved my problem. My doctor says it's probably my estregen level is too low. The last pills i took had a higher dose of estregen, i still heven't received my period. It's been 3 months now. I expressed my concerns with my Doc but she said it's nothing to worry about. I'm going to see gynacologist. I would hate to find out i won't be able to have children. 2 years from now my Fiance and i want to start a family.
Please get back to me about your thought's. Are there any other people who are going through the same situation?
Thanks for your time

Re: I'm scared i won't be able to concieve children.
The pill can do a real number on your hormone levels and it can take months, even years to fix. Since your cycles have always been irregular it may take some time to resolve this. If you want to start a family I recommend stopping the birth control and allowing your body time to adjust.
I recommend acupuncture and Chinese herbs to help you with this...if you can find a good acupuncturist who is also a trained herbalist this would be best. I have worked successfully with patients with infertility and menstruation problems. It really does work! To find an acupuncturist near you go to www.acufinder.com and type in your zip code.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Re: I'm scared i won't be able to concieve children.
It can take a while eg months for ones body to try to readjust itself after being on the pill so its probably just that why you havent had a period since at all. From what Ive read, being on the pill just creates a false cycle.
I used to have irregular periods along bad PMT and some excess hair growth and it turned out that I have polycystic ovulation syndrome (PCOS). This is a common problem which causes irregular periods (something which can be diagnosed by hormonal blood test and ultrasound.). Homoeopathy treatment and vitamin and mineral supplementation has now gotten my periods regular (after having constantly irregular ones for over 15 yrs) and helped get rid of my PMS mood swings. There are many different problems of cause which could cause irregular periods so of cause it could be something completely different but I'll cut and paste some info on PCOS in case you have other symptoms too.

How many women have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)?
An estimated five to 10 percent of women of childbearing age have PCOS.
What are the symptoms of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)?
These are some of the symptoms of PCOS:- infrequent menstrual periods, no menstrual periods, and/or irregular bleeding
- infertility or inability to get pregnant because of not ovulating
- increased growth of hair on the face, chest, stomach, back, thumbs, or toes
- acne, oily skin, or dandruff
- pelvic pain
- weight gain or obesity, usually carrying extra weight around the waist
- type 2 diabetes
- high cholesterol
- high blood pressure
- male-pattern baldness or thinning hair
- patches of thickened and dark brown or black skin on the neck, arms, breasts, or thighs
- skin tags, or tiny excess flaps of skin in the armpits or neck area
- sleep apnea―excessive snoring and breathing stops at times while asleep

check your hormone levels regularly - prolactin especially. elevated prolatin levels (hyperprolactinemia) can screw up your menstrual cycles and cause infertility

OK - how about being radical and trying a doc that uses natural health care ?
That will deal with the problem and not just the symptoms ?
I know that sounds crazy, but hey, if the other stuff ain't working, it may make sense.

Re: I'm scared i won't be able to concieve children.
I have the same problem as you and I am terrified. I think I got my period once on its own, and then was on the pill for years and years. I went off two months ago, and still have not gotten my period. I can't go to the doctor right now because I don't have health insurance (or the money-- it's expensive). But I want to have children in a few years. Right now I am just looking for a support group or some other people to talk to who are going through something similar. When my friends complain about their periods I think to myself, they don't know how lucky they are.

Re: I'm scared i won't be able to concieve children.
Hi,
I have worried of the same problem. I'm a healthy 28 yo female. I have had Bacterial Vaginosis for the last 5 years. I have been with the same partner for over 5 years. BV is chronic appearing every 3-4 months and have taken Flagyl, clindymicin, cipro etc. I was wondering if taking all of these antibiotics for the past 5 years may have an affect on fertility? My Fiance and I are planning to have children in the next 1-2 years and I'm scared it's going to be hard because I have taken all of there antibiotics?? If anyone has or is going through similar situations, please to share.
Thanks

Re: I'm scared i won't be able to concieve children.
Please please please! Read the other post on Chronic Bacterial Vaginosis and do the PROBIOTIC/yogurt treatment - you need to insert this vaginally as well as take an oral dose of a good quality probiotic with several strains of beneficial flora. You are right, the antibiotics have ravaged your system making it easier to keep getting BV or candida. You are still young and should not have a problem if you can get your BV under control and stop using antibiotics.
Please read that other post and try the probiotic treatment - it works wonders and has really helped me and many other women.
Best wishes
