Default Could I Have Asperger Syndrome?

    * I have been diagnosed with ADHD and "Borderline Depression/Anxiety Disorder"

    * I have a lot of trouble making eye contact even with people close to including my parents and fiancee

    * I have to have a daily routine set up

    * I have trouble controlling the volume of my voice (it may be connected to me being hard of hearing)

    * As a child I had a flat affect, but now (I'm 23) I try (almost force my self) to show emotion

    * I have a very hard time in social situations (I only have one friend outside of my family and school that I see/talk to outside of school and I've known him for 13 years)

    * I have a hard time knowing when I should/shouldn't do something. For example, commonly I will talk about personal information to classmates and I have a hard time reading body language to know when I should stop talking. I also tend to talk about certain things (movies, video games) for a long time and I take over conversations

    Thanks for any help.

Yes, it's likely that you have Asperger's, but only a professional can diagnose you.

Most of the symptoms are matching with the asperger syndrome. Consult the physician to know more about the asperger syndrome. Another symptom is the inability to deal with modification and an unpredicted change of outlook is extremely troubling and may cause anxiety.

Yes it sounds very likely that you do have asperger's, but don't be scared to go to the doctor to find out cause it sounds like you have been doing a pretty good job managing it all your life...they wont make you take meds or anything unless you choose to... my son has Autism and I said no to all drugs but some things you could try
cut gluten and milk products out of your diet
and try to find other people that have asperger's that you can talk to about your difficulties...it is always comforting to connect with people that are in the same situations.

Rachel - why do you say to cut gluten and milk products from diet? I'm Chris, 49 years old, had a few people mention over the years they thought I have Aspergers and for many reasons - I'm thinking I might as well. I do drink a lot of milk - I can go through a gallon in 2-3 days - so wondering whats the effect. Not a registered member and don't know how easily I'll find my way back to this site. Maybe you could email the answer to me as well at cavecrawler83@yahoo.com. Thanks.

Asperger's Syndrome is a developmental disability. Asperger's Syndrome is different for different individuals and so many individual with Asperger's Syndrome will behave similarly, but not exactly the same. It is always better to consult your physician who can diagnose you and say exactly as whether you are the victim of asperger or not.

While each "symptom" you exhibit is not entirely the same as those exhibited by our 18-year old son, many are similar. Based on numerous tests and detailed analysis, "we" (my wife [a teacher w/ 30 years experience], me, and numerous specialists) have "suspected" that our son has at least a "touch" of Asperger Syndrome. For example, Garrett has always had difficulty with social interaction and his "effectiveness" has always increased as the "rigidity" of his schedule tightened. As I was not diagnosed with ADD until I was approximately 48 years old, I would encourage you to visit several specialists for evaluation as only a trained professional has the capability to make the correct diagnosis (as noted by others). Good luck!

Individual with Asperger's syndrome are very sensitive to the physical world around them. The usual everyday sights and sounds that a normal person deals with are sometimes too much for a person with aspergers to handle. Sensitivity of the five senses is not considered by doctors to be an official sympto" that person with aspergers have.

I came across the view that Christians do not believe that ****** could have sinned and failed in his mission on earth. Well then how could he be tempted in the desert? Was it all a charade or could ****** have sinned?

Hi, I'm not sure I understand how this relates to Asperger's Syndrome, especially as being tempted isnt a sin, following through on the temptation is a sin...

well anyway, apparently I have AS too but I refuse to accept it...
