    Default Impotence (please please help)

I am 27 years old. At the age of 12 I smoked my first cigarette. I smoked many cigarettes (though not fully addicted) until now. So during high-school and before I reached full maturity. I also smoked marijuana at 15, before reaching full maturity. I also starting drinking alchoal at age 15. At age 16 I started smoking, drinking, and smoking marijuana a lot. I remember knowing that it was shrinking my *****. I had no doudt that it was affecting it. I also was never able to ejaculate with a women unless I did it myself. So, not able to ejaculate during intercourse or oral sex. So I have always had a problem with sensitivity. But the problem only became really bad when I went to college at 18 and got depressed. Before I had several instances where I would not be able to perform but it got much worse at 18 when I was severely depressed until now. During that time I took many anti-depressents and abused marijuana. The problem got much worse when I was very depressed and was prescribe Geadone (an anti-psychotic) and at the same time smoked a lot of marijuana. I noticed that my testicles began to shrink severely as well as my *****. That was a year ago. Since then I hardly touched marijuana and alchohol and cigarettes, though when I do I notice that it is very detrimental. But it has been close to a year of relative sobriety and I am off anti-depressents, but still the problem persists. I have almost no libido and very few sexual thoughts. I realize psyhological issues are a slight part of the problem but I am very sure that it is physical. Because my ***** and testicles have definitely shrunk and my libido is virtually non-existent and I rarely have erections. Even when I do they are much softer than when I was more healthy. One doctor examined it and said the anti-depressents and Geodone seem to have caused temporary nerve damage but should go away when I stop the meds. It is smaller and much softer even when erect, the ******* are still as enjoyable but the sensitivity is not good. So there seems to have been nerve damage. My testicles have also shrunk, so I might have testicular atrophy, but it seems unlikely. Other medical factors to consider are: Polycythemia Vera, Hernia surgery as a baby, and for two weeks I took a legal Androgen from GNC that might have done something, but I doubt it. Possibly the blood issue plays a role and maybe the hernia and the surgery, because when I pick up heavy things it seems to shrink, but that should not be causing this much of a problem. My testosterone level is actually very good according to my tests. And three doctors said there is no reason why I should have this problem. I believe the excessive drug use and alchoal and cigarette use before reaching puberty are the cause and the subsequent use of anti-depressents (as well as Lithium which caused me to have an over-active Thyroid, that might be a factor as well) and especially the Geodone, which seems to be the straw that broke the camels back. I would like to know what I should do? Go to a sexoligist, a urologist? What tests to take? What you think it might be? And what pills I should take or gels or shots, to reverse the shrinking of the genitals, fix the nerves, and not have E.D.?
You have no idea how much this meens to me. If you can please help me out with the problem I would really really appreciate it.
    Thank you so much,
    KL

My sympathies on your struggle for health.
It sounds on the surface of things, like you have an incredible build-up of toxins in your system. Years of ingesting tobacco fumes, alcohol, and then meds could possibly be either responsible for, or contributing to your situation.

I'm no doctor, but if it were me, I would get a whole-body (internal) cleansing system along with a SERIOUS trace mineral supplement and see if that didn't improve things a whole lot. I believe that doctors are highly educated and intelligent people, but they typically don't consider EVERY possibilty (how could they?). Nutrition and toxins do not top their list of things to look at. Get thee to a Naturopath.

There are a lot things that can be done to improve your life outside of prescription medicine.
I hope that this gives you some hope. Too often we give up as soon as our doctor does. Don't stop looking.

I agree with the last post. A good cleanse would help, but you need to do this very slowly and with a qualified alternative practitioner.

Just to start I would suggest taking EmergenC, as it is easy to find (even at Walmart), and inexpensive. It has a very high amount of C, in the form of mineral ascorbates, which is easily absorbed in the body. Smoking actually depletes your vitamin C. This is a great product and also gives you good energy with no stimulants.

When I first met my husband and we were dating he had a very similar early childhood experience with drugs and smoking. He also had ED. As an acupuncturist I treated him a few times, and he had no further problems! I recommend acupuncture as it really helps balance the body. Visit www.acufinder.com for more info.

    Best wishes.

from personal experience, I can tell you i've noticed the same thing (or similar). I'm 35 and still very sexually active, but i've been smoking weed since i was about 15, with my smoking being almost daily for the past 4 years. There is no doubt in my mind that the buildup from toxins, the lack of bloodflow due to vascular constriction (from smoking cigs and weed...and drinking coffee, for that matter) really weaken / reduce the size of my erections and testicles. This was proven to me when i was locked up for about 2 weeks, during which time i 'de-toxed' ( i was sweating out disgusting toxins at night while trying to sleep - which i could barely do b/c it had been so long since i'd fallen asleep WITHOUT weed). Toward the end of the 2 weeks, i notice my overal package being much, much more ...ummm.. 'manly'... much, MUCH more bloodflow, stronger/ firmer erections, testicles regained 'substance'. Of course, this might have had something to do with the fact that I was abstinent during that time (thank God! hahah), so there was a bit of a buildup of fluids, so to speak.

but without a doubt, every time i smoke cigarettes (specifically), my ***** seems to shrink and erections are smaller. and it doesn't matter if it's 10 cigs in a day or only 1 - the result is the same.

I have the same problems with ED. Just won't perform when I want it to and many erections when they do occur, aren't as solid as I would like. I haven't really been treated for it, nor have I found much of a cure. I smoked weed for a long time, though I quit due to a panic/anxiety disorder and I quit smoking just last year. I used to smoke a pack a day for roughly 5 years. And Mary Jane was like the embrace of a lover.. heh heh.. So after this time, a couple of things I did notice about my lack of erections were that it really helped to be very comfortable and with someone that made me feel relaxed, the thought of not being able to perform was obviously prevailent and the nervousness kills the sexual energy. One thing above all though, is when I don't masturbate for more than a week at time, it's like I'm a whole new man. I don't naturally have too many sexual thoughts or anything along those lines, although I do love women.. heh heh.. Just try being abstinate for a while, but obviously you should be trying the things the people above have offered, as they are probably all worth the effort. Just thought I'd give you the "You may be jerking off too much." as I didn't think anyone else would. Hope you get better, and let me know what works!

I suggest zinc supplements, ginkgo biloba and either damiana, or "***** goat weed", from health food, and/or vitamin stores. Eat in accordance with your "nutritional type" at www.mercola.com SEARCHBAR Try their "chlorella" detox. Moderate exercise. Avoid intoxicants, and medications, as much as possible. Alternative treatments worth trying are in sections 2,(view page R first) and 10, (view page O first) at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris A previous answer from a therapist: Very common on any of the SSRI's-Paxil, Prozac, Zoloft, Lexapro, Celexa, Luvox, etc.
You can try a couple things to resolve it:
    1) Try Periactin (Cyproheptadine) a few hours prior to having relations-it's an antihistamine that is generic and inexpensive, but I believe it requires a Rx. It works for some people, but not all. You need about 4mg usually.
    2) Ask your doc to add Wellbutrin-it often is prescribed to help with this side effect and is usually effective, but can add some other side effects (like sweating) but not everyone gets side effects.
    3) Reduce the dosage or try a drug holiday occasionally, but check with your doc before decreasing.
    4) Men can try Yohimbine or Viagra/Cialis if not otherwise contraindicated.
    5) Try another SSRI-not all produce the side effect in every person. You can also try Cymbalta or Effexor which are both combined SSRI/SNRI and tend to diminish this side effect (similar to adding Wellbutrin).

I agree with shaneris and recommend some sort of herbal alternative like ***** goat weed. I take it in liquid drops and I use to get them here but make sure they are the liquid drops because I find that the pills are not as effective, you can find allot of good info about ***** goat weed and several other herbal products here make sure you research Tongkat Ali and Muira Palma, I have read these are very good as well.

I've recently gone on Citalopram and if anything I maybe feel a bit less irritable and depressed than I did - still 5 days is not much to go on. However the one thing that has changed and it happened immediately - is that my libido seems to have disappeared. I can manage to get an erection if I really try, but reaching ****** is virtually impossible.

Doing some internet reading, it appears that sexual dysfunction is very common with SSRIs but in most cases it is believed to stop once you finish taking the pills. Does any other guys have this type of experience, particularly if you've been on an SSRI for quite a long time.

First of all you have to stop with the things you can do. No smoke, No marijuana, No alcohol and most important NO treatment with sintetic medicines. You have problems with nerves and intoxication.
1 year of treatment with Acidum thiocticum (Thiogamma 600) 1x1
1 year of treatment with Ginko Biloba 3X1
Natural juice of Aloe Vera 99,8 % 50mlX2 (6 months)
And second of all you have to eradicate the psiho-emotional cause wich lead you to this situation. You will go to a psicologist or a homeopat doctor and he will make you a map of your personaliy so you will see more clear the dark side of you. A homeopat will help you to find natural extracts wich will help you to eradicate the cause.
If you treat only the simptoms you will never be healthy.
    enjoy your new life

I have the same problem, minus the marijuana. I have been reading a lot lately... I was also wondering what is the difference between impotence and natural impotence?? One article says that Natural Impotence or erectile dysfunction (male impotence) is a sexual dysfunction whereby a man is unable to develop or maintain an erection, sufficient for satisfactory sexual performance. So what's impotence then? I'm confused... how should I know how to cure what I have when I cant figure out what this is?
