Re: All The Suffering Here Shows Our Medical System To Be Very Lacking
This is all too true. And, I am sad to say I even work at a hospital. I have been to their ER several times with no satisfaction. It seems like doctors now days are only out for the profit & not trying to really find out what is wrong with someone. I am sick & tired of going to the doctor & them just doing a few test or putting me on meds & telling me to come back in 2 weeks & so on. And I am tired of going to the ER & getting pain medicine without them even telling me what is wrong.
Something has got to be done about this!!!!

You're right, this is ridiculous. I found this site a few nights ago, and was shocked to see how many people are turned away and still have no answers. This is all unnessary suffering. =(

Re: All The Suffering Here Shows Our Medical System To Be Very Lacking
The faith I have with my er where I live is nonexiestant. A few weeks ago I had to take my husband there. Nobody was at the desk, so we saw a button on the wall that told us to push if no one was presant. So a few minutes later someone finally showed up. She said, "I don't know why we have that button there, it's not like there is an emergency." What is up with that. Yes, the reason for our visit was not life or death, but a comment like that worries me. Is it not called the"EMERGENCY ROOM"?So shouldn't there always be a person to help? We were the only ones in there! What if in the future I really do have a serious accident, will they treat me in a timely manner?Or maybe there is something else, like a bit of gossip, that is more important. We went in at 9:30 pm and I left at 3 in the morning. That is horrible. It was at least an hour between each person saw us. There was like 3 different people that came in to see us. I can excuse other more important emergencies, but none? Come on. Sorry had to vent.

With regard to Emergency Room visits, unless it is a true emergency (chest pain, suspected stroke, broken bone, severe pain) or way after hours, it's the worst place to go for non life-threatening issues. It is much better to go to a walk-in urgent care center. The doctors there can easily deal with cuts, non displaced fractures, etc. If there is anything they cannot deal with, they make arrangements to send the patient to hospital, but will discuss it first with the appropriate specialist who will be accepting the patient. That cuts down on the many hours waiting to see the ER physician, who decides whether the patient needs to see a specialist.

Ughhh, tell me about it. When I had one of my first panic attacks, I went there thinking I was dying, and we were stuck in the waiting room for an hour. I was sobbing and everything and it was awful. I think my mom was almost as much of a nervous wreck as I was because I was like "aaagh nooo don't leave me". I think they should run ERs in a way where the people in the worst condition are the ones who are examined first. They didn't even know it was a panic attack, and I was there for five hours! What did I get out of it? A $1000 medical bill.

Re: All The Suffering Here Shows Our Medical System To Be Very Lacking
ive been to at least 7 doctors and they all dont know what is wrong with me. Most of them try to help, but most of them just say its nothing and send me away like im fine. I think turning purple is a major circulatory problem. Doctors these days are to conceded with there fancy houses and big paychecks. The more patients they see the more money they make. So the less time they spend on you is the more insurence money that gets collected troughout the day. Im telling you the truth ladies and gentlemen the only thing on that doctors mind is not in any way how he can help you its how your money is getting into his wallet

Re: All The Suffering Here Shows Our Medical System To Be Very Lacking
I too feel like the doctors only care about the money. I remember the days when you went to one doctor & they did everything. They took the time with you. The doctors I have been too are just way too busy. They work at 2-3 different offices & they are on call at the hospital. Now, how do they have the time to spend quality time with a patient in that scenerio. I have had some good doctors lately (The funny thing is that one of them was at a clinic---he said he could not refer me---my primary care doctor was the only one that could do that). Another doctor was an ER doctor & he (NO LIE) was only in maybe his 40's. There were a few other doctors. I have also tried to get second opinions only to find out that the doctor I went to for the second opinion (& this has happened several times in the town that I live in) knew the doctor that I got the first opinion from & would not give me a second opinion. Now that stinks. What a cruddy medical system we have. Luckily I have PPO & because of that I ended up having to even going out of state one time to get away from all the ****. I know the ER is supposed to be for True Emergencies, but there are times when those of us are in horrible pain (& we feel like it is an Emergency---especially when I was having my pain with my Endometriosis) & we want to be treated with respect too. I have been to the ER TOOOOOOOO many times with misdiagnosis's & causing me even more ER visits & more misdiagnosis's & pain. They are just trying to rush you out of there too quick I guess. I do not know. There are some good ER's out there though. I hope (those of you that do have children that want to be doctors, nurses, etc.) you tell your children not to do this & to please be in this for the compassion & not the money. Hopefully the next generation will be the complete cure of all this destruction. Sorry, I could go on & on about this!!!
