Default It starts with pins and needles....

    Hello,

I am concerned about some strange symptoms I am experiencing.
    Bear with me......
I am a 28 year old male, 6' 175lbs. I have been active in martial arts for over 10 years now. I actually teach a class 2X a week. I try to exercise regularly. Non smoker. Occasional Alcohol.

Some of the info may be unimportant, but it all seemed to happen at once so I'll lay it all out there.

I started a new martial arts class that is very demanding. I participated for a few weeks until my left ankle on the lateral side started hurting during weight bearing. I am flatfooted so this was no big suprise. I went to the poditrist and got an X-Ray and MRI.
Soon after that I started getting cold feet and my big toe on the left foot was going numb whenever I sat at my computer. It happened a few times and raised a red flag. Soon after that I was exercising in my house doing push-ups and shadowboxing...I went outside in the cold and started doing jump rope.100 skips X2. Suddenly I I was hit by a massive headache that lasted a few minutes. There was a lingering headache that lasted for about a week after that(1 week today actually.)
This made me nervous, as I never got that sort of headache before...coupled with the cold feet, made me concerned about my circulation. My podiatrist says my pulse is good in my feet though.
Anyway a few days later I started getting the feeling of pins and needles in random places over my body. From my back, to my arms, legs and feet.
It gets worse at night, and sometimes also gives me a crawling sensation. Occasionally my feet would also feel tingling during the night, and when I woke up.
Around the same time I noticed my neck was sore in the lower cervical vertabre. It hurts worst when I sit, and feels fine when I'm laying down. Well, I went to the doctor and she said the pins and needles sounded like diabetes to her, and that she thought the headache was a sinus headache, and the neck was possibly jarred due to jumping rope. The only person I know of in my family to have diabetes was a great grandmother. She had type I.

The DR reffered me to Physical Therapy for my neck, and had me take a blood test to check on diabetes.
I havent heard back about the test and, as people do, am getting nervous.
Also today I was taking a hot shower and the place where my neck is sore
was extremly sensitive to the heat. After I got out of the shower I noticed that my back and **** were bright red. The insides of both legs were red as were the tops of my feet. iT went away after about 15 minutes.
I'm really confused and frustrated. Its all happening suddenly and according to what I found on the web it may be anything from MS to Lymes disease, to a Tumor. My father says it sounds like some kind of allergic reaction to him, or shingles, which he had. I havent eaten or done anything different recently that I can remember besides getting a flu shot about a 1-2 weeks ago.
And now that I think about it I remember complaining to my wife, that I though we had bed bugs because occasionaly at night I would feel itchy. This goes back about a year.

Let me know what you think.
Thanks Alot!! And sorry this was so long.

I was surfing the net myself, trying to find an explanation for the things that I have been experiencing lately...and came across your post. I was shocked..and relieved (strangely) to know that someone else had been through the same. I am a relatively healthy female, I work out at least 4 times a week...recently quit smoking (a few months ago), and have been experiencing what I believed to be really poor circulation. My feet, calves, and hands go from feeling "normal" to freezing, numbing at times...to the point that I wear socks to bed at night. My skin even feels "sore"..again, this isn't all the time. I've noticed that these 'sensations' are stronger on one side of my body as well - primarily the right side. I've been under quite a bit of stress lately...have had difficulty sleeping (have been tested for sleep apnea even, because I'm so tired all the time). I have a follow-up appt scheduled with my doctor again in a week for further discussion/testing. If anyone recognizes these symptoms for anything - or has any suggestions for what to do to get rid of them, I would appreciate it.

Thumbs down Re: It starts with pins and needles....

i am a doctor from new jersey. i read your posts and it sounds to me like you are both suffering from the same problem - you have both got liddingtons disease. it is incredibly rare but unfortunately highly contagious. i reccomend you both go to your local hospital immediately to get them to give you the treatment. this will stop it spreading to anyone else.

Well doctor, your post was shocking to say the least.
I could not find any information on Liddingtons disease anywhere.
Can you please give me some more information on this disease and how you diagnosed us as having it, before I go into a panic about spreading a highly contagious disease to dozens of my elderly patients, and my family over the past few weeks since I have posted here.

    thanks

There no such thing as liddingtons disease. It just comes from stress . Try seeing a chiropractor and see what happens and you have to distress your life. Stress can do wierd things to your body. Im dealing with a lot of stress myself and dealing with the same sensations and I know I am very healthy.

    Thanks for the info.
I have personally not considered RLS, because I get the occasional pain in my legs, but also in random other places like my arms or back too.

Haha- I am 28 years old active happy energetic female with the INVISIBLE DISEASE. I was also suffering with the same symptoms. The truth is my doctor ran some tests- and after finding all of these symptoms that don't seem to be connected- she realized that I was having a toxic overload. Which by the way gave me a hyper active liver. I was poisoned by my body- I collapsed. The funny thing is I thought I was doing everything right.
For the OP I would advice him not to do his heavy work out until he manages to detoxify his system. I am concerned that he might be close to suffer athletic anaphylaxis. Doctors are often baffle to see healthy athletes die suddenly of anaphylaxis because there are only very few indicative of a person's toxicity and those symptoms could look like some other disease.
Think logically: how could you get 3 or 4 different unrelated conditions at one? They are not unrelated.
I told the doctor that I knew I was not developing hepatitis ( I am not sexually active), a urinary track infection, food allergies, acid reflux, dermal allergies, anxiety attacks, restless leg syndrome ,a sinus infection, etc all at the same time.
It all have the same origin: toxicity.
Some other delicate conditions might suddenly arise- as your immune system is fighting out the internal pollution.
    * cut all sugar, fats, caffeine, alcohol for now.
    * reduce your intake of protein- do not drink milk
*take a high quality vitamin/mineral supplement. (this will help your body to detox)
    * take apple cider vinegar (45 min. max), epson salt bath (20 min. max). your skin was red because it was pushing out toxins.
    * drink lots of water
    * eat lots of unsoluble fiber, as you need to keep your colon working.
    * probiotics will help your immune system- it gets debilitated with all the internal stress-
Don't be surprised if you have protein in your urine, low cortisol, high calcium, and a normal urine ph.

It is not very expensive to get better- continue going to the doctor, make sure everything else is ok. If you want to check for this invisible sickness, ask the doctor for an intestinal permeability test, or a blood test for antibodies.
    Take care!
    Detox, detox, detox.

O.k, so has anyone got any further diagnosis on this? Just curious, I have the same problems, and I swear its contagious, so I am doubting the toxic route, it could contribute, but being contagious, I would lean more towards fungus, bacteria, virus...
