Re: lymph node in neck
I am a 28 year old female who grandmother died of throat cancer. I have had severe tonsil stones for about two years now. Last week a large one was stuck and I was trying to get it out when I noticed a huge lump on my tonsils. I felt something fall down my throat and since then I have had a bad cough, my lungs burn, and it feels like I have something always stuck in my throat. Should I be concerned?

Re: lymph node in neck
Lymph nodes swell when they are fighting off invaders...... allergens are considered to be invaders.......... there are so many reasons for lymph node swelling it's best not to second guess it........ just get checked out, statistically speaking it's probably nothing...........

Re: lymph node in neck
I have a swollen gland on the left of my neck. it been there for a year now and I am just about to finish my 4th course of oxytetracycline at the end of the month. I haven't had any other symptoms but I have had acne on my back for about 4 years. the oxytetracycline has cleared it a bit but the gland doesn't go down at all. the doctor thinks it could be the acne. I had a blood test done which showed really high antibodies and white blood cells. I took a corse of erythromycin then had another blood test which came back normal. anyone else had similar problems or know what it could be??

Re: lymph node in neck
Hi everyone, My name is Sally and I am hoping someone out there can assist me.
I have had a throat problem for about 18 months. By that I mean I have had a croaky/hoarse throat that comes and goes. Sometimes my voice is absolutely fine and other times i have no voice at all. I have been to the Doctor and he sent me for xray's. I have the results but have not been back to the Doctor as yet - I have an appointment tomorrow.
I have read the letter the xray gave me to pass on and it makes no sense to me at all. I have tried googling but it still makes no sense. This is wehat it says ---
"CT demonstration of non specific asymmetry/fullness of the anterior right sided oro/hypopharynx. Multiple small subsegmental, sudmandibular and cervical lymph nodes. Non specific supraglottic left tracheal out pouching. No CT evidnece of a laryngeal cyst."
Does anyone have any idea what this means? If you do I would so greatly love to hear from you.
Thank you so much.
Sally

Re: lymph node in neck
Hi,
Im a 29yr old woman in the UK and thankfully we have the NHS which is a free health service, although the delays and waiting lists can be very annoying, it's really helpful when you don't have to think of expenses along with everything else.
Anyway, i've had a lump in the right side of my neck since March and went to the doctor a few times and after biopsy, tests, a camera up my nose etc, i was diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB) of the lymph nodes. A lot of the stories i've read here are just like mine and no-one has mentioned having TB and i'm just wondering if the doctors on the other side of the world aren't missing something.
I'm now on antibiotics for 6months and the lump is still there along with nasty pains in my chest, right under where the neck lump is and all the way down to my ribs.
I thought it was cancer at first but the doctors have assured me it isn't. And another good thing is i don't have the infectious type of TB. That would've been upsetting cos i have a 2yr old son and then i love my work which i'd have had to stop for a while if it was the infectious one.
So has anyone's doctor ever done a TB test?

Re: lymph node in neck
Hello Everyone.. I Have Been Dealing With A Swollen Lymph Nodes In My Neck And The Left Side Under My Jaw. I Been To 4 Different Specialist And They All Have Told Me Different Reasons Of What It Could Be. My Blood Work Came Back Fine . I Was On 2 Different Anitbiotics Which I Just Finished . I Was Told That It Could Be Cat Scratch Fever. Which Is When A Cat Licks, bites, Or Scratches You, You Get Sick. Well My Mom Wound Up Gettin Cat Scratch Fever And I Know Now That Was Not What I Have. She Has A Cough And Nasal Infection And Shes Very Tired And Sleeps All Day But They Also Put Her On The Same Medicine They Gave Me Ha Go Figure. Also 1 Doc Told Me It Could Be From Hair Dye And Moose Which I Do Use So For 2 Months I Stayed Away From It. Also He Told Me Its Due To An Infection Now I Have No Been Sick No Cough No Fever No Flu Or Anything. So Im Completly Lost. When I First Get The Lymph Nodes They R Swollen For 2-3 Days Like A Marble And They Hurt Then After The 3rd Day They Shrink Down To About The Size Of A Pea Nd No Longer Hurt. So Is This A Good Sign Or Bad??IM GOIN CRAZY!!! IM VERY STRESSED OUT.. Any Help? I See The Doctor Again In A Week.

Re: lymph node in neck
My daughter had AML 5 days syptoms asymptomatic and really healthy. She passed. I am always watchful, especially since my little one has anemia high sed rate low RBC high WBC low Lymphs.. just either clssic auto immune or worse. Lymph Nodes can come and go and some people just are more prone, abnormal are if you lightly squeeze and it feels firm like a grape or if they don't roll or more than 2MM, those are the bad ones. The ones in the back of the neck come usually post fever. They all react differently, not sure under the jaw, but you can actually have hiding infections, have a CBC done and look at the differentials, have a HEM/ONC do it, if you check every day and still feel them, not bad, but if they are the size I said and the feel, then go immediately. My little one gets them in the back of the neck all the time after a virus.

Re: lymph node in neck
Hey guys! Just so not everyone who reads this is freaking out....Sometimes it's normal to have a swollen "lymph node" that just won't go away....for forever!! I have one in the back of my neck and I've had it for years. Sometimes it even gets a little tender -- probably from me poking at it all of the time. It just takes something as little as a sty on your eyelid to cause lymph nodes to swell up and for some reason...sometimes...they just stick around!!!
