Angry Recurring Skin Rash on legs & Ankles: Itchy

Need help. My father is a 70 yr old that has Hep C under control for many years. He also has a recurring painful leg rash (very itchy) that extends from ankles up to upper thighs. Onset is unpredictable but starts off by feeling a burning sensation. Looks like red circles...usually lasts for about 3 to 5 days then goes away for about a month, then recurs. He has had blood tests to rule out allergies...many docs don't know where to go from here. Any suggestions?

1.) Eczema- These are re-occurring, itchy, red, and sometimes raised circular rashes. My son gets these. They are sometimes mistaken for ringworm. He may need a cortisone cream to relieve the itch.

2.) Ringworm- A fungal infection that is easily treated with an anti-fungal(Over the counter).

3.) Shingles- This is a virus. The same one that caused the chicken pox (he may of had earlier in life). There are treatments, however he needs to ask his doctor.

4.) Some kind of Dermatitis- Maybe an allergic reaction to something. ie. Laundry soap, bar soap,

I hope this helps. Good Luck
