Sollwen Lymph Nodes
In the middle of December id say the 17th , while in the shawer, i noticed a small swelling in the left side of my groin area. It was a bit sore to the touch and i didnt think much of it. By the 21st... it was much larger and it hurt to walk, stand, sit, or even lay comfortably in bed. My love took me to the ER and all they told me to do is make an appt with a doctor..They ran a Pelvic Ultrasound and did some blood work as did std exams... all came back clear! I had to schedual an followup with a gyno .. so that i did... because of medicaid issues i wasnt able to be seen until January 15th with a gyno...That was this month... Its still in pain, the swelling increased and its just becomming more and more frightning. The Gyno I met with told me he really had no idea what it could be and that i had to meet with an Infectious disease doctor.... I have an appt tomarrow with a Primary for the reffereral.... Im very nervous.... because the gyno gave me antibiotics that my body hasnt responded to.... What should i do???? Im very concerned.... The pain is still present and Im just not sure what to do......

Re: swollen lymph nodes in groin
I understand exactly how your feel! Although, I am suprised that the gyno did not cut it open and almost like remove it unless yours is clearly not an ingrown hair. There were many times I was told mine was an ingrown hair, although I really did not have hair in the exact place I was getting them. I got about three or four of them that were really bad and I just kept getting put on antibiotics. I recommend you take the full length of antibiotics because whatever it is, it is an infection. Hopefully the swelling will go down. Try taking a bath with Epson salt everyday for a week. THIS WILL HELP! I got to the point where I began laser hair removal treatments (if the case was actually in grown hairs). I (knock on wood) have not gotten another one since. They have payment plans and can work with anyone. I wish you luck!!! Oh and also change your underwear. Wear underwear that is not tight in the groin area. This can cause blockage of the lymph nodes in that spot and they can swell up and get an infection. This could very much be what it is. I wear cotton under with spandex sides kind of. They are loose and do not restrict that area with I sit at a desk all day. Also use an odorless detergent along with odorless dryer sheets. You want to have as less irritation as possible down there! Good luck!

Re: swollen lymph nodes in groin
Stay on top of your doctors until you get a satisfactory answer. A blood test may not tell you all the answers you need. It may need to be biopsied. There are many things it could be, not all of them bad. If it is something bad, there are great treatments out there, so please try not to worry. The stress is not good for you either.
Here is a site with great info, in case Lymph is mentioned:

Re: swollen lymph nodes in groin
I had a swollen and painful lump/area on the left side of my groin a few months ago and the doctor said it was a "swollen gland", presumably he meant lymph node though. I was put on antibiotics and it went away shortly. (I also initially thought it might be a hernia, but to my relief it wasn't
)
Recently, around the same time as noticing I had a bite on the lower part of my left shin, by my ankle, I began feeling the swollen lymph node again (in my groin area). The bite is quite red and swollen, so I'm not sure if it's just a bad mosquito bite or maybe a tick bite that I may have got Lyme disease from. I'm going to give it a few days and if the red area enlarges around the bite I'm going to see the doctor.

Re: swollen lymph nodes in groin
My name is Jon and I know that this is a serious matter, and it has caught my attention. A little over a year and a half ago I had discovered two swollen lymph nodes on the left side of my groin and sure enough on the right. The doctors ruled out a double hernia, and another said it could possibly be an STD. I knew he was crazy and the blood test proved that. I was meaning to get a CT Scan but I dont have insurance nor that kind of money. SO if you would please E-mail me if you find anything else on your husbands condition, thank you for your time, and I hope evrything turns out well for you and your family! Re: swollen lymph nodes in groin
Hi, I just found out I have two swollen node in my right side of my groin, and another two are beginning, I will take a week of antibotic of 500mg cilex 3x a day. I have been feeling discomfort for a month. I had been four doctors, none one think it is a problem until I strongly requested one to check then and sent me to a ultrsound and found out. In this case I also have another area infection but not sure whether it is related. I wonder how are you now?

Re: swollen lymph nodes in groin
I am a twenty year old male who is attending college. I do nothing out of the ordinary in the day except work out, sometimes fairly hard. I have no pets, and no real ties to infectious materials. I have had flu like symptpoms for a couple days, could that be the cause? I first noticed the swollen node today on my right side.

Re: swollen lymph nodes in groin
I'm just doin' some research online because my son-3 years old- has had reoccuring swollen lymph nodes in his groin and huge ones in his neck! We've taken him in a few times before, but we're told to give it time and they'll go away, and they do, but they come back bigger each time, in his neck! I'll be calling his doctor tomorrow morning! TO JOHNQ: I found that a herniah can cause swollen lymph nodes in the groin, and since you work out intensely this sounds like it may be a possibility! Mention this to your doc and good luck!

Re: swollen lymph nodes in groin
As everyone else I to have two swollen lymph nodes on my right side. But this all started after i had two hernia surgeries 6-7yrs ago. I have had three ultrasounds, two which came back as nothing these were ordered by my family care doctor and now the third as very important to keep track of but this all came down when I saw the Gyno. I have a fourth in a couple of weeks so to all you women if you have this problem go to your gyno not just your family care doctor......I will keep you posted on what comes out of this one. They are very concerned this time.
