no diagnosis, she's dying day by day
My mom has ascites, she was at Mass General for 5 weeks. they thought is was ovarian cancer, they operated and they were wrong. they thought is was a heart pumping problem, they did a heart cath and echocardiogram and her heart is fine.
She has NO apetite, gets nauseaous whenever she eats anything. she is dying a little bit each day. they did a liver biopsy and it was negative. they wanted to do another liver biopsy and she said no, enough is enough. she is home now getting hospice care.
if she could be diagnosed she could be saved. Can anyone help?

Hang in there at Mass. General-- they are the best & if anyone can, they will figure it out.
Ascites has many causes, some rare.
Did you know there is a medical library at Mass. General? When you are next there, ask to be directed to it. The librarian there can help you find rarer causes.
