Re: Head pressure, Spaced out, foggy, dizzy, fatigue, top neck ache
Thanks for your answer, yes exactly like my brain switches off for just a split second, then I have to hold on to something or I fall over and feel dizzy and sick afterwards. Do you have any explanation what is happening, has any doctor been able to explain it ??

Re: Head pressure, Spaced out, foggy, dizzy, fatigue, top neck ache
The one reply who gets dizzy and falls? weakness and sick to stomach, if you have never hit your head rule it out but a possible concussion? i hit my head (front skull) and had a pain go from the base of my skull all the way down my back and in the middle of my back i felt like a roll or jump in a muscle, spine. and i have had all those symptons plus more and very recent did another MRI third one on my neck! i have protruding disc at c-6 c-7 it does intale surgery. but only because it has gone on too long and this is now the out come. progressing pain, symptons, and maybe nerve damage? so will see if they step up because it is a work injury. not very happy about any of it and told them i was not going away!!!! but i had pressure, spaced out blurred vision, very fatigued and now if you clear your throat or cough it's like sudden noises it hurts my brain and zaps my skin like a n ache all over. and had a contrast MRI that showed brain shrinkage, and that is the the brain thrashing around against the inside of the skull. because Dr's did not order a HEAD MRI, from the start and they knew what they wer'e doing didnt want any evidence so now the swelling has gone down and just shows shrinkage. if anyone out there knows of maybe how i can prove it by something else maybe showing from a closed in head injury please let me know.
thank you and i wish you all the best in finding the solution and cure for your pain mentally and physically take care.

Re: Head pressure, Spaced out, foggy, dizzy, fatigue, top neck ache
I notice the same thing maclayton. Another thing I noticed, when a piece of the scalp is pulled away, on either side, the shoulders immediately relax, everything is immediately clear and "normal." But as soon as the scalp is let go, the brain goes back into "brain lock" mode. It is so incredibly weird. It takes forever to formulate a sentence and is so difficult to concentrate.
Has anyone found anything yet??? Everyone still looking? Updates? keep the faith...

Re: Head pressure, Spaced out, foggy, dizzy, fatigue, top neck ache
Dear All,
I am very happy indeed to come across this thread. I am 33, just finished my PhD in Electrical Engineering and now doing a job in Si Valley California. YES, I am with this since the first day of my job. But I wont give up without a fight. I guess I was cleaning my kitchen cabinet when I was scheduled to move from Michigan to California for my new career. It just started from there. Its a bit worse since then. What a great gift for me at the end of the graduate school!! But, again, lets keep up the fight.
Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with trauma related arthritis in a good number of joints in 2006 and I was just 26 when I was in the middle of my MS in EE degree. But I got it done and then came to PhD school and actually finished it no more than average time (Although I had to work harder and had to become a socially isolated guy, but what the ****, you screw the society to help yourself). I always fought with determination and I am going to do that as well this time. But I understand its going to be hard;.....very very very hard. My brain is a slow processor now for this ****.
B12 can be helpful that can kill the toxic N2O that may be giving this feeling. Or perhaps candida killing agents (I got an infection from a dirty pool last summer...may be Candida or Lyme disease can be the culprit). Some anti-depression can be helpful...I apologize as I am just saying and yet to try these. Even can be some nerve issues due to some degeneration on the neck (yet to see the doctor who are not really helpful, from my experience).
Lets keep on our research to find something workable, have courage and keep on moving. DO NOT GIVE UP FRIENDS!!!

Re: Head pressure, Spaced out, foggy, dizzy, fatigue, top neck ache
I have these exact symptoms and glad to hear I'm not alone. Has anyone tried chiropractic treatment or yoga?
I've seen neurologists, internal medicine, physiatrists, ENT, and even tried acupuncture... nothings worked so far. This is one thing modern medicine has been lacking, there are just not enough of us and the symptoms are not physically measurable, its tough to fix it or even getting a doc interested in fixing it.
maybe we can start a list of what everyone tried and whats worked and doesn't
doesn't work for me:
Ibuprofen, asprin, coffee, vitamin B12 sub-lingual, heat pack behind the neck, acupuncture.
temporary minor relief:
extra sleep? massage, ice pack.
as for the viral theory, I'd love to see more evidence of it.. but so far it seems very far fetched.
Please post what you've tried so far (esp prescription meds, procedures, etc). Maybe if we put our experiences together, we can figure this thing out.

Re: Head pressure, Spaced out, foggy, dizzy, fatigue, top neck ache
HELLO EVERYONE!
I TRULY HOPE THIS E-MAIL FINDS YOU ALL WELL!! I WANTED TO MENTION, AND KEPTED FORGETTING (-: MY GASTRO, DOCTOR, INTRODUCED ME TO A PROBIOTIC, WHICH WORKS WONDERS FOR THE INFECTIONS. AND VARIOUS THINGS IN YOUR SYSTEM. I TRIED THE PROBIOTIC 4x IT PUTS ALL THE GOOD BACTERIA IN YOUR BODY, HELPING YOUR DIGESTIVE TRACK, AND COLAN. WHEN YOU HAVE BAD BACTERIA IN YOUR SYSTEM IT EATS ALL THE GOOD BACTERIA (-: AND I THINK THAT'S SOMETHING WE NEVER REALLY CONSIDER? BUT WHEN YOU HAVE MORE WHITE CELLS THE RED? IT DOES STRANGE THINGS TO OUR SYSTEM. LOW BLOOD PRESSURE, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, WHICH IN TURN CAN CAUSE PRESSURE, DIZZINESS, FATIGUE, LIGHT HEADEDNESS. BUT I FOUND A BETTER PROBIOTIC CALLED ( SUSTENEX) IT IS BETTER THEN TAKING THE PAIN MEDS. AND IT HELPS YOUR BREATHING AS WELL. I HOPE ALL OF YOU ARE FINDING ANSWERS TO YOUR HEALTH ISSUES? BECAUSE IT IS MENTAL AS WELL AS PHYISCAL. AND ALSO IF YOU CAN FIND A (PCP) DOCTOR, WHO SPECIALIZES IN SCIENCE & INFECTOUS DIEASES. THEY WILL RUN TEST ON YOU AND ALSO TO SEE IF YOU MAY HAVE TOXINS IN YOUR BODY!! GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!

Re: Head pressure, Spaced out, foggy, dizzy, fatigue, top neck ache
I am 33yo female. 132lbs (but 2 months ago was 147)
I was rear ended on June 26th when sitting at a red light. During impact I was turned towards the back seat to look at children. (they are all fine).
The driver that hit us was going about 50, texting..and did not even see the intersection and did not attempt to break.
I am suffering ALL the symptoms everyone is feeling on here.
My neck tension is soooo bad. I just woke up...and its already started. and the pain travels to my head giving me achy headache all over in different spots.
I feel like I am on an airplane all day...with plugged ears...and it is now a painful feeling in the ears along with the fullness. My jaw is ALWAYS tight...so some sort of TMJ going on.
The pain goes into upper back sometimes....like a burning sensation. Occasional positional numbness in arms. Numbness in face.
I have lost 25 lbs since the accident. I LOVE food..but ever since...I have no appetite. A form of nauseau.
Since i have no care of food...i have not wanted to cook..
I am a mother of 3 small children and a supportive husband...and I feel sooooo bad. I can't remember the last time I cooked a GOOD meal.
I have a hard time playing with the kids and find joy in nothing.
I am usually very outgoing...the happy one that makes everyone laugh...but now I feel like an outsider in social settings...where I just want to hide.
I have not been angry about the accident until the last couple days...
What has gotten me through is being thankful that we were not injured more badly. My kids are all fine. We are very lucky. BUT...now I am getting ******! I feel like I am losing it! My summer (and my kids summer) has been ruined! All because this idiot was texting and completely negligent of an intersection.
Health history:
Osteonecrosis, diagnosed in 2001, surgery on right leg, vascularized bone graft.
Diagnosed while in army.
Left with chronic right leg pain.
Hypothyroidism
This definitely is a result of the accident. I know some of you, it is idiopathic.
I have had xray, hope to get an MRI soon.
Seeing PT, and he is doing cranial sacral therapy and says he feels my cranial nerves are "impacted"...they are hard to get to...so he does a lot of head stuff to get to them. Pressure points all over head, base of skull, and roof of mouth.
Was seeing chiro...and ... i am not going back...
it has been a month..and I only feel worse..so I am going to back off that for now.
I hope to get a referral to a rehab place near me..that deals with people that have similiar issues..
Just need to get my doc to do that for me.
All my care is at a VA hospital..so things are easy to get there..lots of hoops to jump through.
I really feel for all of you...
some of you have been dealing with this for years..and my heart goes out to you. It has only been 2.5 months for me.
Whiplash is NO joke!!!! A word that really never seemed a big deal to me...but IT IS!!!
Any words of advice would be great.

Re: Head pressure, Spaced out, foggy, dizzy, fatigue, top neck ache
When anyone has a head injury it is always good to have a doctor, look at you. and ask for a MRI better safe then sorry! pressure in the brain is not good it can kill off brain cells, if untreated. they can go in and relieve pressure. and some symptons you are also having can be signs of a head concussion. here are some signs vomiting, dizziness, off balance, server headaches, poor blood pressure upon lying down, clammy sweats, fever, ringing in the ears, sharp pain in the stomach, check urine for blood, sore throats, swallowing problems, breathing problems, rapid heart rythm, burning in throat and chest, lack of appetite, i know i am a head and neck injury victim, who still lives w/ what everyone of you are experiencing. and another tip is contact Brain Injury Alliance, just go search type it in and they will ask you some questions and send you all the pamplets and cd's on brain injury and concussion. and aslo contact numbers, for support, doctors, attorneys, hot line numbers poision control for diease, it is a good thing to know someone is listening to you and please you are not crazy if your body is telling you something it's because something is'nt right follow it. i wish all of you the best in finding the help you need and so deserve. remember it is your body make them listen and hear you out because if you don't no'one else is going too!
and also the brain does repair it's self, in all do time. all though there will be some symptons that will remain depending on the injury it's self. and mostly you eating right taking care of yourself and the proper care and following the doctors orders.. and remember i am not a doctor just a victim like you! )-:
Best Wishes! 2 all of you!!

Re: Head pressure, Spaced out, foggy, dizzy, fatigue, top neck ache
MaineMama,
That's the closest description yet, to what I am experiencing.
Especially, the part about not finding joys in cooking!!!
The whole scalp feels constrained to the point like it is being pulled and I am tense and not relaxed unless i pinch my scalp/neck somewhere.
All, I am not sure where it coming from, but I just want to be happy again.
I am going to fight like h*ll to solve this thing. I will not let this thing control my life.
PLEASE KEEP POSTING!!! Let us know what you have tried and not tried.
For me personally, a therapist recommended several things to help me overcome my anxiety as a result of not knowing what this thing is. That has, at least, helped me to cope with whatever-this-thing-is.
