    Default Wheezing and Chronic Bronchitis

For the last 25+ years I have smoked 2-3 packs of cigarettes per day. I'm hooked and Chaintix caused me to be psychotic. Nictotine gum makes the fillings in my teeth come out and the nicotine patch causes a severe rash on my skin. Plus the GUM and PATCH both cause severe nausea, vomiting, headaches, dhiarea, itching and hallucinations.

Anyway I wheeze 24x7, there is never a time of the day or night that I do not wheeze and whistle as I breathe. I do have an bronchial inhaler I use 3 puffs every 2-3 hours and it helps the wheezing for a few miniutes. And now I am out of breath all the time. Doing something as simple as rolling over in the bed will cause me to be gasping for breath and I won't recover in less than about 5 minutes. Walking or climbing stairs will literally cause me to pass out.

I also have developed a chronic cough where I will cough say 10 times about 10 times an hour, I've been told I even cough like this in my sleep. Also when I cough earlier in the day I cough up a lot of phlegm, it's a mouthful of it for the first hour of the day and is disgusting to me.

I also have a nebulizer machine I use twice a day.

Other the quiting smoking is there some things I can do to get some relief?

    thanks

Your post did not indicate that you quit smoking. Besides a lung transplant the only other thing you can do is quit smoking.

Sounds like your lungs are filled with 25 years of smoke. Not much you can do to undo all of the years of smoking.

At times I have considered a faster cheaper more final solution to my labyrinth of health issues.

    thanks

You need to see a lung doctor. You may have COPD. There are inhalers that work wonders. I use Serevent and Asmanex and it makes a world of difference. Now I can lead a pretty normal life without being out of breath from walking down the hall. I cough a lot if I'm not on the medication. See a dr. and be checked for asthma. I began with asthma then developed COPD. If you begin using inhalers, pay close attention to your mouth. I was on advair and developed yeast infection in my mouth and throat so bad I was losing a pound a day because I couldn't eat or drink anything. They switched me to Serevent and Asmanex and I'm doing fine as long as I pay close attention and take care of any mouth sores as soon as they develop.

Thumbs up Re: Wheezing and Chronic Bronchitis

like some other responders, in one way or another, you should quit that nasty habit. It is truly the addiction from **** and I know its hard to quit but (what you gotta do...you gotta do)....

Try this stuff called Flovent Diskus inhaler. It worked like a miracle for me. Although I dont smoke, I've had this phlegm cough since last November and this thing made it go away almost instantly. I must admit I havent used it for very long, but its done more for me in a couple of days than any other drug they've given me so far...

    Good luck...
