Red spots under skin! please HELP!

For over 5 years ive had a few very tiny red spots on my upper arms. By few, i mean 2 or 3 on each arm. They come and go and when pressed on they blank out and reappear. Recently ive noticed more have appeared and are spreading down my arms, mostly on my left arm though. Today i found 2 more on the left side of my left breast. They arent painful, they dont itch and they are all about the size of a pin ******. I've searched everywhere and the only red spot info i found are for severe illnesses and the images show big, potruding, bumps. And the pages about age spots, i don't think apply, since im only 20. Please, if anyone has any info on these spots, tell me...its freaking me out...

I have them too, and the dermatologist told me the tiny red dots are caused by a virus, kind of like a miniature wart.

This is starting to sound something similar to what I have developed, but not quite the size of pin ******. Mine seem to range from 1mm to 3mm, and maybe bigger or seems bigger because they appear clustered together.

I only noticed something slightly redish on November 8th, but didn't think much of it that day. The next day it had spread to my chest and back so I went to the doctor. It has not been determined yet, but I have been doing my own personal research until I go back to the doctors. Today (November 11) it seems to be spreading to my lower body towards my legs and feet. It seems to be more spreaded around my knees, elbows and lower back.

Somewhere from 8-24 hours before I noticed any red spots, I think I felt a slight itch or some sensation like like sore muscle/joints. I have been wondering if I ate some meat that was not quite fully cooked.

I'm going to keep checking up on here to keep up with your situation. Maybe we might have the same thing.

Any of you notice they spread after consuming a large amount of alcohol ?

well they are not clustered and they dont itch. they are just there and they have happened slooowly 1 or 2 new ones like every year or something. i dont think it has anything to do with alcohol though because they started before i started drinking. i think the best answer is that it may be a skin bacteria or virus. idk. Last time i tried to talk to my doctor he kinda brushed it off since i was there for something else i forgot to keep insisting about it. im hoping its nothing serious because they are so tiny that all the pics ive seen about these tiny red dots are all way bigger than what i have. im going to see a dermatologist soon but i wanted a few different opinions since i dont want to find out after like 10 years or something that i was diagnosed incorrectly or something. thanks and any other info is greatly appreciated :-D

I am 28 and I have these too. My doc brushed them off but I am still worried about them. They appear here and there and almost look like a mole is about to form but it stays as this tiny pinprick sized red dot. Maybe I could take a photo to send you? What is your email address--I am really interested to know if we have the same thing and if we do, WHAT IS IT!? They don't itch or hurt but I am worried I have some early sign of a disease or something.

i went to my doctor yesterday and really pointed them out and he looked at them and said they are nothing. he said my platelet(spell check?) count was good and that i no longer had anemia and then when i kept asking him if he was sure he took..uh...forgot the word...one of those microscope things that they use to look in your ears and your mouth and looked at it more closely and said it was just little capillaries showing through the skin and that they were nothing to worry about, in my case. Id say that everyone is fine from this but when he mention the platelets, it made me wonder what other course they could have taken, so as for your pin ****** bella_grrl, maybe you should ask another doctors opinion on them. Or just ask your own doctor if your recent bloodwork came back normal. Hopefully its just the same as I.

I too get these small red dots that come and go. They are mostly on my back, sometimes in the chest and stomach area. Mine will usually ***** me like a needle for about 5 minutes, that's how I notice they are there cuz the pricking hurts and I go to see what it is. Does anyone get any pricking with it???? Mine is also just one here one there, not at all like a rash or anything.

Your doctor mentioning the platelet count, makes sense according to the definition of Petechiae. And I guess it can be something more serious. It really has me worried :-( Most info. I found said these should always be checked out. But I've been getting them for years and just ignored it til today I just wanted to know what it was, now I'm scared. Hope others will give some additional feedback on this subject.

well as i said before, mine never hurt, or irritated. i noticed them by chance when one day they were really prominent. that article there says it can be serious. i got lucky since all my results got back normal. it could be just that, busted vessels. but i wouldnt brush it off any longer if i were you since youre saying that they hurt. mine isnt like a rash either. theyre pretty much scattered randomly and they are few and far between. ask your doc asap. i hope everything turns out well!

It's funny that I came across this forum, because I too have had the same exact spots you describe for many years. The capillary "diagnosis" seems to make sense to me. I've always wondered what they could be, but decided to start doing some internet research after my husband noticed something similar on his stomach. Still not convinced that he has the same problem though. Thanks for posting your results.
