I am at my wits end with these symptoms
For the past 3 years I have been having hot and cold flashes, extreme anxiety, excessive burbing, brain fog, internal shaking, I feel like my insides are moving too fast for my outside which worsens when I try to relax, burping, the feeling that something is moving up and down my legs and feet, twitching, muscle aches, nervousness, heart palpitions, if I touch the back of my neck I get extreme strange feelings going down my legs, my ribs feel tight while resting, aat times my body feels like it is at a steady shake, my hands and feet sometimes feel so cold that they ache, night sweats. I am taking synthroid because I had radiation to my thyroid and my last levels were at 0.4 which has taken 2 and a half years to adjust so far. My symptoms are not near as sever as they were when my thyroid levels were at 23 but I am still having all of the symptoms that I was having while levels were at 23. Dr. said GAD but does anyone know if these symptoms will ever go away. Could they still be thyroid related? It is really scarry to feel like this and very discouraging. Any help or answers would be greatly appreciated!! I have read about GAD and alot of my symptoms don't sound like GAD to me but I am not a Doctor.

Stress, Thyroid can all cause those ... i would get another doctor .. endocronologist. I have had thyroid and have had similar symptoms .. i recommend book "Living well with Hypothyroidism" it covers all symptoms and is an absolute life saver. What is GAD by the way?

Yes, I agree to go to an endocrinologist and if you already are maybe switch Drs. Doctors should not dismiss physical symptoms as anxiety.

Re: I am at my wits end with these symptoms
Hi, there. I just thought I'd share that you should find an endocrinologist who specializes in thyroid disorders. I've had serious symptoms for the last ten years that everyone dismissed. (Talk about frustrating!) I've been tested for MS & myasthenia gravis, had a bone marrow biopsy, and had multiple scans of my head, neck and thoracic cavity. All tests came back normal, with the exception that my thyroid levels seem to be constantly fluctuating.
I'm a diabetic, so I discussed this with my endocrinologist. He told me it was "impossible" to gain weight with hyperthyroidism, and that the small changes I'd had in my TSH levels "couldn't possibly" cause symptoms.
My neurologist had told me that all of my seemingly neurological symptoms could be thyroid-related, but my endo disagreed with her, too. Because of him being so non-chalant and seemingly unaware of some basic thyroid facts, I am going to schedule an appointment with a thyroid specialist.
I can TOTALLY relate to your being frustrated and feeling like nobody's listening to you. I've been going through that for over ten years and am also at my wit's end. Hang in there and seek a second or third opinion until you find a doc that will act on your symptoms instead of dismissing them. Also -- insist that blood tests be run to determine your levels of
T3 and T4 hormones, and request that they also check your levels of Free T3s and T4s.
Also -- if your doc says your TSH levels are "normal", ask whether they are high or low normal. Many folks experience thyroid symptoms with TSH levels that are not "officially" high or low. Some docs recognize this and will change med dosages to get levels as close to "perfect" as possible; other docs ignore anyone who insists they are symptomatic. Keep seeking a doc that will listen to you, run the appropriate tests, and ACT on their results.
It can and does get better -- I promise -- but you have to take charge and control of your own health to get anything accomplished.

Re: I am at my wits end with these symptoms
I have been trying to figure out why I feel like my insides are moving fast for a long time and was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. My mother had hyperthyroid diagnosed when she was 52 the same age I am now. It feels like I can just never feel relaxed. It' like I am nervous in the middle of my body but in my head there is nothing i can point to as to why i feel this way. I thought the thyroid drug they put me on was making it worse but after 2 weeks of being off of it the symptoms are just as bad. It is really depressing to the point of worrying that I can't live like this much longer. I seem to have all of the symptoms of hyperthyroid but diagnosed as hypo. If you ever were able to come to any conclusions about your problem i would love to hear from you.

I have also wondered if caffeine could be causing this and will stop it for a time to see. I only drink a cup or two in the morning and afternoon.

Re: I am at my wits end with these symptoms
If you get any answers please post them. For the last year or so, I've been thinking I was going crazy because I have all these insane symptoms and almost all my tests come out normal. It's so frustrating. My internal shakiness has gotten to the point that I feel it on the outside when I do anything that requires a little effort. I also am so foggy in the head sometimes that I feel like I'm underwater. Any help from anyone would be appreciated. I have an appt. scheduled with an endocrinologist next week and am hopeful he'll be able to come up with something.
