Default Intense needle like pain in big toe

I am having severe sharp shooting pain intermittently in my big toe for 5-20 seconds at a time for a period of about two weeks. Movement does not affect or effect pain. Sometimes standing sometimes sitting, sometimes durring rest. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason for starting and stopping. After the pain subsides there does not seem to be any pain at all even in manipulated. The pain seems to be localized in the large toe on the instep side and includes possibly the first and second joints. It is hard to tell as the pain is so intense and quick to come on I am unable to focus totally on it. The pain amazes me as to its intensity and then moments later nothing. Any ideas?

Go see a chiropractor and get your spine alignment corrected--then get to a gym and lose some weight take pressure off your system. If your over 35 then see a urologist and check for protien in your urine.

I realize this is an old post, but ever figure out what this was? I'm currently experiencing the same thing. I highly doubt it's a weight issue-- I'm 5'4" and 110 lbs. I suppose it could be my spine, but it seems awfully strange it's only sporadically in my big toe (regardless of sitting, standing, moving, etc.). Very sharp, and sometimes with little needle tingles. Wish I could find some answers...

I had a feeling like this last night. I was in bed, the pain was so intense that I jumped up freaking out that either a needle was in my bed, or that I was bitten. The pain lasted severly for almost one minute. I have also, over the last few months, been having discomfort off and on in the joint of that same toe. I have also been having neurological issues and began having grand mal seizures. I have seen a few dr's and neurologists over this, but they drug me up and send me on my way. I really feel as if they are missing something major!

I had this same thing happen to me tonight at work for the first time. The first time it happened I thought I had stepped on a large collection of needles...it was so intense, and I was sure there was something in my shoe. It went away fairly quickly and there was absolutely no pain at all in the toe. About 15 minutes later I was helping a customer and it happened again and startled me so bad with the pain that I cursed in front of the customer, which is SO unlike me..it was just such a sudden, shooting pain. Anyone have any answers?

I have the SAME thing happen. No rhyme or reason. It will happen ever day for a week several times, then stop for a month. It feels like a needle is being stuck in to the tip of my right great toe, and I get a sudden sharp pain at the top of my heel (btwn my heel and achilles tendon) at the exact same time. The pain is so sudden and severe I feel as if I might vomit! I would love to know what the heck is going on!
