Weirdest pain in my left front thigh
I have to ask if anyone out there has had these symtoms. In the morning (not every morning but getting more frequent lately) I get very sharp burning like pain in the front of my thigh. This pain is so severe that it makes me scream at the top of my lungs. It's when I try to get out of bed, moving any body part, the pain is only localized in the thigh. Then when I stop moving it goes away (lasts about the lenghth of a charley horse) Then I rest a bit and try to move another body part, scream sweat, rest. This goes on until I can drag my body up and once standing , I'm fine. This process takes about 1 hour. Any guesses?

Re: Weirdest pain in my left front thigh
sounds like reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome now known as complex regional pain syndrome. Read my posting on "ankle spasm" for symptoms and response...pain is the hallmark they say, and can occur anywhere in the body. If this is so, I am sorry and hope the symptoms have abated. Would like to hear if you have received any successful treatment.

Re: Weirdest pain in my left front thigh
I get a pain in my right upper thigh area, about 3 inches down from the top of the leg. It is localized and hurts in an area about the size of a toonie... it only hurts in that small area but it really really hurts... any ideas????

Re: Weirdest pain in my left front thigh
I have the exact same thing happen but it usually occurs at night when I'm laying down in bed as well. It's connected to an opiate/benzo overdose I suffered, probably from the renal failure.
It can be anywhere from annoying to quite painful. The closest thing I can equate it to would be like the pins and needles sensation when part of your body falls "asleep", but it's almost as if it's burning. Not really heat, but almost the frost bite type burn. I don't know but I would love to get a better idea of what's going on as well. Using opiates triggers the sensation, but that might just be my bodies physiological "memory" associating my overdose with whatever's going on in my thigh.

i figured out what I have... peripheral neuropathy, specifically with my bilateral carpal tunnel including my thigh, which is meralgia paresthetica, which was most likely caused by my kidney failure.

Re: Weirdest pain in my left front thigh
I just posted a thread similar to yours today. I get leg aches in the morning in various places, probably most often between my left knee and thigh, but they can be all over both legs. When I get up they go away. Alpha Lipoic Acid capsules help me, 100 mg each, one in the morning and one before bed. My doctors don't have a guess. I've self diagnosed as peripheral neuropathy, like another person to answer you, but am just guessing. Good luck and I'll try to keep up with you if I can figure out how. --Dianne at di.kid@hotmail.com

Re: Weirdest pain in my left front thigh
I've been getting similar issues the past week or so. I can't remember doing anything to hurt my back, but my right front thigh has been "falling asleep" or burning at night while I'm asleep or when I'm on the couch or computer chair. It doesn't always, but every once in a while - probably at least once or twice a day.
I'm 26, 5'10" 240 - out of shape, although my blood pressure and other levels are great.

Re: Weirdest pain in my left front thigh
I have heard of two similar cases (a movie was made of one case actully and the other was a young lady who once attended my same school and was very athletic) of pain in the upper thigh or lower leg of one leg and localised. The two individuals were not beleived until they were very sick and it was too late, they were diagnosed with cancer of the leg.
Your case may be neurological as it sounds very much indicative to a nearve problem or inflamation, but insist on a MRI, not a CT or X-ray, just to exclude any possiblity of cancer and some blood work to check your white blood cell count. This type of cancer is very overlooked becasue it sounds and is so obscure, check it out immediately.
I pray it is neurological.

PS. If all tests are negative, seek out an osteopath who specialises in muslce skeletal and can do manipulation if this is in anyway a nerve compression problem.
