Default is my pain caused by my diabetes

i am a 33 year old woman with type 1 diabetes. i have had it since i was 14. in the last couple of years, i have had uncontrollable blood sugars, fatigue, depression, and was diagnosed with allergies, encountered a strange blister like rash on my neck that stayed for a few weeks, most disturbing is the pain i have in my legs. it started around my calves then knees and thighs ankles, and now hips and lower back. it is specially bad at night, but also affects me during the day. my range of motion is affected i am slower to walk up stairs , i cannot bend my legs to the side while lying down without extreme discomfort. i am stressed because i have been to a few doctors who have all contributed my problems to my diabetes. i really think that something else may be going on. i know from research that if you have one autoimmune illness, like type 1 diabetes you are more likely to have another. i think that when the doctor sees me all he sees is a diabetic, what if i have some other illness that is being overshadowed. i have tried otc pain releivers, and medicine my doctor prescribed for nerve pain, which did not help... what can i do to get my doctors to check for other things, i am a nursing student so i have a little knowlege of how the body works and know the effects of uncontrolled blood sugars but i am miserable and sincerely think i am being treated ineffectively .. p.s these are navy doctors as my husband is in the military, so they are definetely not specialists... please help

    Dear DM-Diva
Your description of your problem give to me association for Chronic Arterial Insufience in your legs. The reason for that is Atherosclerosis. You are a Diabetic and you have probably problem with segmented occlusion of the crural arteries.
Your pain is caused by the CLAUDCATIO INTERMITENS , Number II and III of the Fonteyn’s stage positions. You have pain when you go, it is nr. II and you have pain when you sleep., it is nr. III. Your pain at night is gone if you stay op and go, or if you place your leg to hang out of the bed.
You can tell your physician to investigate your blood pressure in your legs and find out what is your AB-Index ( ankel-bracial index). The people who make this investigation know how to measure the blood pressure by the diabetic people, because you have probably the problem with Monceberg mdiasclerose.
Talk to your physician about your problem and tell to him to send you to be investigated for Claudicatio Intermittence. If you do not do something with that, you can end with ulcers and gangrene with consequences for amputation of your legs.
    Have a nice day
    Don
P.S. I apologies my bad English

Do you know your serum blood B12 levels? If not, get them checked as B12 def can cause these issues. The diabetes can contribute to having B12 def.

Have you tried alternative herbal diabetes treatments like cinnamon, gynostemma, bitter melon, and others? This may help keep your blood sugar under control. A good Oriental medical doc or naturopathic doc can help you with this. NSI has some good blood glucose supplements. Talk with your doc about adding this to your daily regimen.

A good food therapy is to take one lime (organic preferred or well scrubbed), and juice it and add this to one quart of purified water. Drink this lime juice daily - it helps to keep blood sugar levels on an even keel. Try this - very readily available and healthy to boot. Limes are preferred over lemons.

Good sweeteners to use include agave syrup, lo han, stevia. Stay away from artificial sweeteners IMO.

If your blood sugar is not well controlled, then you need to demand more from your docs...military medicine is scary - you have my sympathies.
    Best wishes

    Dear AKUANN

All your talk about alternative medication for Diabetes is not useful in the modern Medicine.
Please do not understand me wrong, but alternative medication on the DM area belongs to the Jungle people and not in the civilised world.
The only help people with DM can get is from the scientifically research and not from the Indian chiefs.
A good food therapy is to go to the ww.glycemicindex.com and learn about the theory of the GlycemicIndex and Glycemic Load. It is the optimal meted to control the Carbohydrate.
    Sincerely Yours

Well, that certainly is your own opinion. Ignorance is bliss. There are many ways to heal. The "civilized" world has embraced CAM medicine, just look at any US medical school worth anything.

    Dear Acuann
You are right! “Ignorance is bliss”.
You give advisees to a Lady with Diabetes Type 1 (IDDM – Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus). If you know better about IDDM, then you know the reason for that. Her Pancreas Beta Cells do not produce Insulin. IDDM is a progressive disease and newer can be better. It is a very serious problem. She must intake exogenous Insulin to be in life. If she not does that, she can be very seek and on last she must release this world.
This is scientifically argument and it is not for discussion.
The Lady has a serious problem with Claudicatio Intermittence. Eating biter melons do not help.
She must measure the blood pressure in her legs to find out about the grade of Ischemic Problems and to be investigated for Atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is very deadly and that must be taken very serious. If she has very low blood pressure in her legs (Ankle pressure 50 mmHg or Halux pressure 30 mmHg) then the risk for Ulcers and Gangrene is very serious. If she has Atherosclerosis this will end with Emboli in the brain or in the hart or other places, dependent of her luck.
    Think about that.

If you have DM type II is not meaning you can not get other diseases. You give very restricted information’s about your problem and of that reason it is difficult to advise you more précis.
Your main problem is PAIN in your legs. If you have Neuropathy, then the pain cud be a result from that. An effective medical drug for that is GABAPENTIN. Speak with your physician to give you Gabapentin and read please my answer to Acuann (DOM) above your mail. It is very important to investigate your blood circulation in your legs.
Have a nice day and remember: “Memento Vivere”

PS You shod newer think about to end your life. There are plenty of reasons to be in life.

Its not so much the heat that makes me hurt. I think its the heat
that makes me feel faint, nauseas & worn out & then too much rest is
what makes me HURT. Two 4 hour naps in two days is making me hurt &
thats with the air conditioner blasting I just open the door to check
the mail & I have to sit down & breathe deep.

The air conditioner could be making me hurt too, but I dont care

I was able to talk my nurse into giving me 2 take-home doses of MTX so I
wouldnt have to get out in the heat when it started getting like 90
degrees by 9AM. Bless her I dont know how I was going to do it.
Ive got air in the car, but it causes my car to cop an attitude when
    its too hot.

    Heat, Heat, GO AWAY
