Unhappy Bump Behind ear, please help

Hello, I am new to this forum, and I need some advise. I am very scared!
I am a 21 year old female. On 10/19/06 at night I discovered a bump behind my ear. Now I know that I got it on that same day because my ear had been itchy for a couple of days already, inicially I thought it was just an insect bight or something similar because it was red and itchy, but my insect bites never last more than a few days and well my ear has been itchy for about 1 week and 1/2. Now like I said because my ear has been itchy on the 19th I noticed a bump behind my right ear, which hurts when I touch it. Its not very big, but I have never had anything like this happen to me before.
well I have had the bump for about 1 week now, its not increasing in size but its not going away. Its not as painful, but stil hurts when I touch it. Now about two days ago my ear started hurting a little but. Its a very slight pain wich comes and goes, sort of light waves of pain shoot from my ear to the righ side of my head. Sort of like a migran, but like I said its waves of slight pain wich start sort of at my ear, then moves to my right side of head and ends up behind my right side of my head. front to back.
I also have irritation on my neck, its very itchy, especially my left side, just as itchy as my ear, which is irritated because i have scratched it so much. Can anyone help me or give me advise!

    Thanks, LaGuera77

I have a bump behind my left ear. I think mine is a pimple, though I've never had a pimple anywhere except my cheeks, and I haven't had a pimple since I was in high school.

I think that if your bump is growing and now giving you pain equivalent to a migraine, you should go to the doctor and have it looked at. I don't know if scary stories can have truth in them, but possible bug bite + itching + lasts for a long time + shooting pain seems like it would equal spider babies...

At any rate try rubbing alcohol. But please go to the doctor...

Hello im a 20 year old male and i have a bump behind my ear. it has grown bigger the last two years. ( i might have hit my head i think but not too hard) ive had it checked out and they say its just bone. but i keep on getting a little pain every now and then. the doctor recomendeds it to be removed but the doctor seems fishy to me. he said he dosent know how long it will take to remove or if he will remove it. aall he said was he was gonna cut me open then go from there. wont this hurt. can u just cut part of a bone off. should i go see somebody else. or just get it removed

Cool Re: Bump Behind ear, please help

I've got bumps behind both ears and the doctor says they are mastoids and nothing to worry about, though they can itch and hurt usually if I get an ear/sinus infection.

Because of the location of the lump you should get it checked out. The lymph nodes run down from that area, and a doctor would def feel it. It is never out of line for you to seek medical advice. Each of us is different, and a swelling of any kind should be checked. Just go to your family doctor and they can take it from there.

I get bumps there all the time also. They get very itchy and I get pain in my ear and headaches. Mostly I get them due to stress. But you could very well have an infection and the very best thing would see a doctor about it. Especially if it has yet to go away.

Question Re: Bump Behind ear, please help

Ive just found a bump behind my ear. it hurts when i touch it, but apart from that i dont notice it. can these be caused by stress? as I have been really stressed at work lately. I dont mind going to the doctor with it, as Ive been there with problems down below before lol which was baaad. but its xmas... not gona get in2 the doctors, so I'll just wait and see if it goes down in the most relaxing time of year, christmas. is this a good idea?

lymph nodes are in lots of places including behind the ears.
They swell and become painful when they are trying to fight off an infection. Infection on the head/face = lymph nodes on head pop out. They can stay out for 2 wks.
You prob need some antibiotics for an infection of the sinus, ear, tooth, infected hair, etc...
    It could be anything!
itching is another form of pain. Not unusual.

I get these once in a while since I was 14 years old. I remember having three at one time and they were huge. I went to see my doctor and yes, they were lymph nodes. They show up there because they are fighting off infections or just like the other ones in your body by your neck, under arm and bottom down where you'll find more when you are sick swell up. I usually get the ones behind by ear and bottom of my neck hair line when I have a sinus infection or allergies going on. If it really bothers you, the doctors can prescribe you antibotics to help you fight other infections going on in your immune system to help your lymph nodes. But if they don't go away w/in a month and continously are there you may want to have your doctor recheck you for other diseases such as cancer etc.

I've had this before and went to the doctor. I had fluid backed up in the Eustation(spelling) tube. It happened after an infection in my ear. I had my ear drained. then it went away. If it didn't I was told I would need surgery. See a doc, it could be bad.
