Red striations / rash on *****
In February of this year I noticed I had developed a rug burn type rash from what I determined to be from friction during masterbation. The mark was about the size of dime on the top of the head of my *****. I tried to keep it clean and dry, but didn't really pay it much attention.
At the end of Feb I noticed a few little red bumps developing within the rash. Within a few weeks the dime size rash had extended upward and downward, but not outward. It has never gotten larger or smaller over the course of the 2 month treatment.
There is no itching, no pain, no soreness, no oozing... it's a little tender, but the only real discomfort is the sight of the redness and striations / rash. When I say striations, there are grooves / lines in the skin. I've researched a ton of skin diseases, including STD's and I can't find anything similar. I don't think it's an STD as I last had sex in October of 2007.
Two doctors diagnosed it as fungal, one dermatologist as eczema. Here is a rundown of my visits and treatments.
On March 14 I visited Dr. #1. He diagnosed it as Balanitis, which he explained was like jock itch / fungal. I was prescribed a basic fungal ointment (can't remember the name). I applied the ointment for 3 weeks and there was no noticable change at all.
On April 8 I visited Dr. #2. He took a sample on a slide and looked at it under a microscope and said it was fungal. I was prescribed ECONAZOLE and FLUTICASONE. I applied the ointments for 10 days. The small bumps began to dissapear on April 15, but the redness and striations persisted. I ended the treatment on April 17, at which time the red bumps were mostly gone...then the skin became extremely dry, so bad it cracked in several places. When the skin became less dry, the striations were lighter red, but still there along with a few patches of the small red bumps.
On April 29 I visited Dr. #2 for the followup visit. He looked at it, and said it was healing, although a little dry. He told me to use a moisturizer which I did for 2 days. At which time the red bumps came back, and the red striations became bright red again. I was back at square one, so I setup an appointment with a Dermatologist.
Also, since the 10 day treatment had worked to some extent (at least on the red bumps), I began a second 10 day treatment. I finished that treatment on May 11.
On May 14 I visited the Dermatologist. The red bumps were gone at this point but the redness and striations were still there. The Derm diagnosed it as Eczema and prescribed PROTOPIC ointment. After doing some research on both Eczema and Protopic I decided to do nothing at that point and see how things progressed as it looked like things were getting better.
On March 16 the skin got extremely dry again from the second 10 day treatment. This time, as the skin was dry, it looked as if everything was clearing up. As the skin became less dry, the striations began to reappear and redden up a little, but the red bumps were gone.
Today, the red bumps are gone and the red striations are lighter, but look like they're going away one minute, then back again the next minute. I don't really want to do any more treatments until I can figure out what this is.
The dermatologist diagnosed it as eczema, but the one constant I'm seeing with eczema cases I've researched is itching. Which I've never had itching at all, not even when it is / was extremely dry. I don't want to use the Protopic unless I'm convinced that it's eczema and/or/if Protopic is safe to use and will work for what I have. Also, I've never had eczema and it doesn't run in my family.
I wanted to see what thoughts / advice I could get here. I have pics I can link up if someone would like to take a look and help with a diagnosis.

Re: Red striations / rash on *****
It does sound like a fungus with sensitivity to the medication, however, you need a blood test for syphilis and I would do herpes 2 just to rule those two diseases out. Then you can go back to the fungus treatment if you don't have a virus. You know, it could be two different things and they are only treating one thing; that's why I think it's important to get checked for those two stds and you might just want to check for all of the others.

You have described my exact condition. Did you ever figure out what it was? If, so how did you treat it? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Re: Red striations / rash on *****
I just noticed this on me starting this week. I've been researching online and this is the closest I've come to finding anything similar.
It looks about the size of a dime, red, doesn't itch, and no pain. Sometimes it seems like the center lightens in color. I've also noticed that my ***** is dry since it's shown up. If I have an erection, it looks like dry skin everywhere. Like ashy elbows do. But when it goes down, I don't notice any white/ashy skin.
I was just diagnosed with a genital wart recently, but that seems to be a completely unrelated issue from what I'm reading online.
So far, I've heard to check for syphilis and herpes. I read somewhere else this could be a precursor to penile cancer, but if your doctors didn't mention that at all, who knows.
I don't know if I'm helping anyone, but I'll see what my doctor says after I see him and a local STD facility.
Thank you for posting and documenting so I know what to bring up to the doctor when I see him. I might just print this out.
So, thank you, thank you for documenting this.

I have this condition also. I've had it since april of 2008 i went to a doctor in november and have given multiple creams all of which failed. I used the protopic which seemed to work short term but eventually the straitions came back. My life has become miserable because of a ridiculous ***** rash. Does anyone know how to cure this?

Re: Red striations / rash on *****
hey guys, I have pretty much the exact some problem that has been described by you guys.
I am almost positive i got it from a girl giving me head, because it appeared a day or two after this new girl I was with gave me head. Then like 2 weeks later she gave me head again and another red spot appeared. i was curious if you guys also got head around the time you contracted this "fungus" I guess cause thats what the doctors keep telling me it is but nothing they give me works!
This has been going on for over 2 months, and like others on this board it is getting me very depressed and insanely sexual frustrating because I can't not (well won't) fool around with another girl till its gone or I know exactly what it is.
If any of you have found anything that works or figured out what this could be please please post and share. This **** is killing me!

Re: Red striations / rash on *****
The problem discussed is similar for me yet I haven't seen any Dr. responses or clinical explanations which my give me a conclusive decision as to what it is. My condition comes and goes. Prior, I was using a steroid cream and anti fungal cream which would diminish the symptoms. The Dr. suggest it's "dermatitis". Such a broad determination in my opinion. I recently start having the problem again. The rash persisted and I decided not to put the creams on as I was depending on them every time it happened. The rash doesn't hurt, but it's unsightly (red, brighter after showering, looks like small blotches clustered together. It typically is at the rim of the ***** head and upper shaft. It's bothering me because I don't want to rely on the creams and a steroid as I'm concerned about the long term effects. Does anyone else have this problem? I have been tested for STD's. Once positive for Hpv, but this doesn't seem like warts as it is more of a rash. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, I had to fight problems with my nails in the past, taking antibiotics which didn't help. It appeared to me as a fungal or yeast problem in the nailbed, but the only thing that seemed to help get rid of it was rubbing vicks on it. Today, the problem is totally under control. Anyway, may my penile problem relates to this? In my mid 30's I just want to know what to do. Maybe I need to reassess my diet in relations to the topic of Candidiais. Thanks for inputting.
