    Default Excess Mucus

I have been having excessive mucus for the past four months now. I can feel it in my throat constantly. No matter how much I get up, it's always there. I have also been diagnosed with vocal cord dysfunction, and the doctors tell me that mucus is irrritating my vocal cords further. They gave me a sinus rinse to do twice a day, but that doesn't seem to be helping much. It helps get the snot out of my nose, but the mucus always remains in my throat. I eat healthy. I actually tried cutting out all dairy products and that maybe helped a tiny bit, but not much. Ahhhhhhh. This is so annoying. What could be causing this, and what can I do that will get rid of the excess?

    Hello,
Just recently found out I have LPR or a form of acid reflux called silent reflux. Had this problem for over 25 years. An allergist gave me Prilosec and every and all symptons vanished
overnight. Between clearing throat, choking, coughing, gagging, runny nose, sneezing and spending a half hour every morning in the shower spitting out gunk, I was all worn out. I had been diagnosed with sleep apnea and now they are re-thinking that. Try Prilosec, OTC. Good Luck! I know how you feel.

I have a similar problem. I was diagnosed with hiatus hernia years ago and I didnt know that "gerd" can cause acid reflux even without heartburn! This in turn could cause lots of phlegm. Could it be that you have a hiatus hernia? I would suggest you see your doctor about an upper GI.

    You might have nasal polyps.
