Have had so many abscess in the exact same spot for 2 years! Have had 3 fistulotomies, the first 2 done by general surgeons, the last by an anal/rectal surgeon. I have had so many abscesses that did not require fistulotomies i can't even count them. They are all in the exact same spot.

I have had cat scans, mri's and today a colonoscopy to try to find out what's going on. Nothing found.

I don't have any other medical problems. Lots of people have suggested crohn's, but i only have "stomach problems" maybe a few days out of the month and it does not run in my family.

    Please advise, anything!!!
try looking up anal fistula, thats what i have, i had to tell the surgeon to look for it as they didnt have a clue, crazy i know, but true....'never believe anything unless it feels right in urself'

This was great to info to read and find out I was not the only one suffering this "pain in the ****" problem!! I have Crohn's disease and Lupus and have suffered from these cysts/abcesses/boils for years now. I have had many lanced and a few surgeries to get rid of them, but they keep coming back w a vengence!! I recently went to a homeopathic doctor who has done wonders for me in the short time since i've seen her! Among many other problems I have she suggested for the cysts to use Tucks pads w betaiodine a couple times a day to avoid and heal the sebaceous cysts. So far so good, not too much change other than 2 i had right now have been drawn out and drained. Hopefully if I continue this they will stop occuring altogether! Hope this is helpful to you as well.

Hello my name is Laura and I'm a 25 year old female. I have also had this problem for many years now. Mine are not quite next to my anus, just in that general area. I got the first one when I was around 17. Antibiotics didn't work and I was in immense pain so I had to go into surgery to have it drained and packed. This healed fine. Hwoever over the past 7 years I have had many more. I've been treated with various antibiotics, had them drained with a needle and it does nothing, they always come back. I currently have 2 (an old one that has come back up a few months on) and a new one. They have run lots of tests and have no idea why I keep getting them I am due for a minor op in a few weeks to get these ones removed and hopefully sort that area out. But I already have lots of scarring from this so I think I'm gonna look like my legs have been put together from pieces by the time they've finished :/ I have been told that I will most likely have this for the rest of my life, but I'm not giving up on finding something that will sort it for good. I don't understand how they can't know what's wrong, I'm not asking them to get rid of a brain tumor for gods sake. I'm just so fed up with it, and I don't know how much longer I'll be able to put up with it. So if anyone at all knows of anything that will help please reply and let me know.

WOW! these stories are so touching,
im 15 yrs old and have crohns disease.
last year i had a peri-anal abscess which was drained, it must have been the most painful thing in my life EVERRRRR!
since last year i have had repeat pains like the abscess but my doctors just say its a flare up with my crohns and sometimes give me antibiotics or something, last week i had this pain at a peak and went to hospital, 3 doctors checked me and said i had an abscess, so they took me to the operation theatre, under anasthetic and everything and checked me out, when i woke up they said there was nothing there, when i myself have seen and felt it :P....very strange but they sent me home with antibiotics which ARE NOT helping...

I can sympathise with everyone hear, it truly is such a vast pain and keeps me up at night, especially after the toilet (no.2) :P

    VERY PAINFUL....

    a cure?....

Post Re: Recurring anal abscesses for 2 yrs!

I feel of you all. I had similar deep Peri-anal Abscess turned to fistula at end of 2008.
Usually abscess/Fistulas are very problematic unless Surgeon has expertise in 1) Isolating and 2) removing the root. As my first surgeon did very bad job, most of the surgeons does not tell if they have real experience or it will be successful surgery.

I had total 3 surgeries, with first two recurred (Dec-2008, May 2009) and referred by a friend, went to India to a very experienced surgeon who is 35 yrs in anal abscess/fistula/fisher/hemorrhoids. He operated on me (in July 2009) and removed the root of the abscess. He told me to stay in India for 3 months, he did daily cleaning and dressing. He said it should not recur again, however possibility is very remote to recur. I met several patients at Dr. Raju office during regular cleaning/dressing, most o the patients came like I did w/recurrence. Thank GOD, it is 1 year 8 months after surgery and 17 months from return back to US (Oct 2009), no issue, except pain due to 3 surgeries each time open wound size of baseball, my buttock area lost so much muscle and experience pain around tail bone while sitting. Now I visit Duke University Hospital for regular check-ups, for safe side, I get MRI done for every 5-6 months. I will continue for 2-3 more MRIs. I heard Duke also does good job.

You will get solution with this surgeon, his contact Dr. KSN Raju, 011-91-40-23353009 (he is available 9-11am IST and 4:30-6pm IST).

    Vishnu Nursing Home
    8-2-248/1/7//&2, Nagarjuna Hills, Punjagutta
    Hyderabad -500082 India

He runs small nursing home and exclusive surgeon for these areas.

He charges little ($500-800 for surgery)
You may need to plan to stay 2 weeks to 3 months (if very complicated and deep like mine)
You can rent service apartments for $500/month and food will be another $500. Medicines are very cheap.
Of course, if you need to visit church, there are quite a few around the area.

    Good luck.

I had deep perianal abscess and it turned into fistula, my first treatment was neeedle aspiration, whch made worse.

I suffered with it and lost hope on life at one point of time. Major issue is finding expert surgeon, who can 1) find, remove infection root and 2) in parallel, using required antibiotics to wipe-out the infection and 3) daily dressing is essential. All of these are very important, this is the most common problem with many surgeons/insurance system.

I had to have 3 surgeries within 7 months (first two are failed) and 3rd one is done by a highly experienced surgeon in India (referred by a friend from India) with his 35 years of experience in abscess/fistula/anal fisher/hemmarroids.

I visited India and surgeon reviewed CT scans, opened the abscess, found the root of the abscess and removed from deep inside, it was close to colon, also fistula spread to hip bone joint. He said it was imperfect surgery done earlier.

Since it was deep and major, Surgeon asked me to stay in India for 3 months and Surgeon (is highly experienced) and he did daily (most of the days) cleaning/dressing and updated me of status. I met several people with abscess/fistula/anal fisher/hemmarroid. Most of them came after one/two or multiple recurrences and heard about this surgeon.

It is about 1 yr 7 months from time of surgery and I am out of it. However I need to be careful with diet and exercise. He assured me of not to recur if I do take care my diet and exercise. If you have any other immune system issue may (diabetic, caner, hiv, etc) need to be relevant careful.

If you seriously wants the issue be healed, I refer him, he is like a charity surgeon runs small nursing home, won't charge much like others, His name: Dr. KSN Raju at Vishnu Nursing home, Hyderabad, India. Phone# 91-040-23353009

I had to spend less than $1000 for surgery, medicines and tests.

    Good luck.

I go home and sometimes immediately or months later I get another. Mine however are rarely in the same place and for some reason my last two surgeries have not been on the area where I told them the abcess was nor have they fixed the particular issue at the time as a result of surgery on the wrong part, I guess when they dont do scans to locate they aren't going to hit the right spot!
I have no answers and would like some too. I guess the reason I am adding to your post is so you know your not alone.
