Burning and tingling in arms and down the back...
I have looked at what's been said, but am unsure of where my symptoms fit in.
Three years ago, when my grandmother died, I had been crying hard and had to stop because the burning sensation that travelled from my shoulders down to my fingertips, was just unbearable. I've had maybe one or two episodes with my arms since then.
The other day, as I was driving, I started coughing because I had inhaled a piece of food. Almost immediately, my back felt like it was on fire and the sensation travelled down my arms to my fingertips again. I was unable to stop coughing, so the burning sensation got so bad that I was about to pull over and call for help. Fortunately, I was able to stop coughing and within a minute or so, the sensation had gone away, but I was in tears because of the pain.
I am 37, but had a stroke at 31. It took the doctors 4 months to realize that I had had a stroke and they believe that the only damage done, was to my vision (it pretty much perfected it). I had been given a spinal tap and a CT scan to find out what was causing the intense 'migraine' and so on.
I'm not sure if my stroke had anything to do with this, as the symptoms started about 3 years after it.
Can anyone help? I'm uninsured for the moment, so I'm trying to find out about this without going in and getting diagnosed without proper healthcare.
