Ultra Sound
I had an Pelvic ultra sound done to see why my periods were so heavy. I got the results back yesterday but haven't talked to my doctor yet. Does anyone know what this means?
1. Left adnexal cyst (3.9 cm in maximal dimension)
2. Submucosal leiomyoma (1.4 cm in greastest dimension)
3. Small anechoic right ovarian cyst.
Does anyone know how big a 3.9 cyst is? Is it a size of a grapefruit? Plum? Orange? Grape? I can't find anything on the internet about it.
Thank You
Bernice

Re: Ultra Sound
a adnexal cyst is over your bladder and it is about the size of a quarter or dollar coin.
submucosal leiomyoma Such smooth muscle tumors of the myometrium are very common, perhaps 1 in 5 women has one.It is triggered by irregular bleeding
You should phone your Dr. up and get more information on it
google search submucosal leimyoma
and the small cyst is really nothing to worry about; cysts tend to resolve themselves; your body noturally makes cysts during ovulation.

Re: Ultra Sound
Thank you for replying. Is the adnexal cyst anything to worry about? I'm going to my doctor tomorrow. I had 2 abnormal periods. My periods were heavy (for 3 days) and lasted about 10 days (very light). My whole period was bright red.
I'm nervous now that you said the submucosal leimyoma and the small cyst is nothing to worry about. But you didn't say that about the adnexal cyst. Should I be worried?

Re: Ultra Sound
im not sure if the Submucosal leiomyoma is any thing to worry about I dont know much about it so you need to talk to your Dr. about that.
The anechoic cyst is a fluid filled mass with a thin wall which is much better then a solid cyst and I am pretty sure that they usually just resolve themselves and your doctor will check up on that to make sure that it dosnt turn into anything abnormal. also the anechoic cyst is classified as a simple
ovarian cyst, so at this point either way it is really nothing to worry about.
The left adnexal cyst sounds like it could be a problem just cause of the size that it is but your dr is going to give you another ultrasound to see if it is starting to fade away. Don't worry about your cysts just cause they are removed quite easily and wont cause long term problems
How are you feeling are you still having cramping do you have the urge to urinate often do you feel weak tierd?
You should also ask your dr if he found any fibroids.
(sorry about my last post I forgot to put a period after Submucosal leiomyoma) Fibroid tumors

Re: Ultra Sound
I have mild cramping even after my period. I do get tired. I had bloodwork which showed I'm alittle anemic. I'm on iron pills for that but I heard it can take a couple months for it to work. I thought submucosal leiomyoma means fibroids?

Re: Ultra Sound
the cramping is normal with the fibroids and being anemic is the reason your so tired

Re: Ultra Sound
Last month I went to my primary doctor who said the bleeding was slowing down but if it doesn't stop, she was going to put me on birth control pills to help it stop. It did stop on the 10th day.
She didn't send me for bloodwork (to see if I was an anemic) or a pelvic ultrasound.
This month, my period was abnormal again. Heavy bright red bleeding for 8 days. Lots of clots. I got a referral to go to a OBGYN (went to them for abnormal cells and a colposcopy once before), she's the one who sent me for bloodwork and a pelvic ultrasound.
So, you don't think any of this is anything to worry about? Or maybe just the adnexal cyst because of the size (3.9 cm)? Could this cyst possibly go away on it's own or is it the anechoic cyst that might go away on it's own? Or is it both cyst that might go away on it's own?
Do fibroids go away on it's own? I'm thinking she might put me on birth control pills and maybe keep a watch on the cysts. Do you think that's what she'll want to do?
Will iron pills make your stools dark green?

Re: Ultra Sound
fibroids dont alway need to be treated cause they usually shrink after menopaouse but they are causing you pain and you would have to have a very simple prcedure done to remove them.
the Dr will go through your cervix to remove them
the cysts are a different story they would be removed if they would have to be but they do usually just shrink down. also i dont know if they are fluid filled or solid i havnt seen them.
everything will be fine tho and it is really nothing to worry about to much cause your GYN will take care of it.
When is your next ultrasound going to be?DEARLY DEVOTED

Re: Ultra Sound
and yes it is normal for your stool to change colour just cause your body is getting used to the iron that you are taking in now
