Default My doctor thinks I am coo-coo for coco puffs. I'M NOT, please help.

O.K. I am 25 years old, I have had horrible neck pain for 6 years now and some lower back pain that is not as bad as the neck pain for about 6 years also. I have had about 4 MRI's taken of my neck and one of my head. The doctors say that there is nothing wrong yet my neck which makes very loud popping and cracking noises when I turn it and I feel electrical shocks sometimes if i turn it too far. I tried to be reasonable and asked the doc "is it suppose to sound like that??"" I don't hear other people's necks from across the room when they turn thier heads??" The doc instisted I was somehow making my neck make the noise. This ****** me off and made me wish that the doc and all of his decendants could feel what I go through every day. Well, I decided I would handle it myself and I didn't need the doc anyways. That was until my fingers tips went completely numb and my toes. I can't feel any sensation at all. Now that my fingers and toes are numb my doctor is like SO.... are you taking your anti-depressants?? ****. A few weeks later, I come in contact with someone who has come in contact with MRSA. I thought I had caught it because I get these "things" that ooze clear liqid on my face (actually the very first one was on my neck) and this only started about 10 months ago after I met the person who caught MRSA, this never happened in my life before that. The doc told me, no, no, no you have impetigo and he gave me some cream. The thing went away and then it came back and I told him, "Why the **** am I the only one who gets impetigo???? I shower I know people who don't and they don't get it!!" Next he says, "You have a staph infection." Ok keep the compliments coming doc 3 separate anti-biotic treatments later he never bothers to check if I got rid of the infection if I even had one. Well I guess not because it's back and he is like I want to test you for herpes. I was like Uhhhh.... I haven't even kissed anyone in over a year doc. He was like Oh no I mean the kind that causes cold sores. I was like OK whatever. I go to the nurse to get my blood drawn and she says pssst.... don't worry 98 percent of people have herpes bacteria....if you have ever had chicken pox you will test positive. So I was like. "98 percent?? I don't see this happening to 98 percent of people. Is this just his way of getting out of figureing out what I really have?? If I test positive he is just going to go YUP that's it bye!" She whispered ...pretty much. I was ****** since I know I have had chicken pox like 3 times when I was about 4 years old. Stupid, lazy doc. This is like beating a dead horse. I wonder is he on salary? Should I just accept that I am ageing? I am 25 years old and my grandmother can do more then I can. My eyes seem to be very sensitive to bright light now and sometimes they jiggle when I look directly at a light but I think that is a reflex like my eyes are trying to get away from the light and I am forcing them to look. I often find myself with what I call the captian hook pirate eye look (sometimes I also call this the popeye stare down when I notice all of the sudden that I am closing one eye so it looks as if I am winking at everyone for no reason. I hope people don't think I am a pervert. It is a reflex kind of like blinking, I do it subconciously but just like blinking if I notice myself doing it I can make myself stop but normally when I am not paying attention I will find myself doing it again. I am so sick of this, I was a very active person and now for me to go out I have to figure out how long the activity will be to see if it is worth the amount of neck pain I will suffer. I wish my neck would just go numb like my fingers and toes, I don't know if I am dieing but honestly I rather would then live the rest of my life like this....Watching the 90 year olds go out and play golf or go for walks.....I envy them... I bet my condition will be a lot worse when I am half thier age then it is now. I can't live the rest of my life knowing that it will only get worse and it is already to the point where I can't enjoy anything. All my goals, my future, it's gone all I can do is lay in bed. What is the point? As long as no one beleives me I will never get help. Thanks people.

The crackling sounds in your neck are called crepitus. It sounds as though you may have nerve compression in your neck or back. Try massage therapy.

If you have skin lesions, I would make an appointment with a dermatologist.

Your inability to focus your eyes is called nystagmus. You can read more about it here:

    http://medlineplus.nlm.nih.gov/medli...cle/003037.htm

You also have photophobia (pain in bright light).

Both of these eye problems may be caused by viral infections, such as herpes.

If the sore is a staff infection first you need a culture. It is really simply and ever doc should do it if staph is a suspect. That is according to my dermatologist. I had chroni staff infection for years. The docs were quite nasty with me to but I finally went to a dermatologist you did a culture, proved yes it is staff and treated me with bactrim for 1 month!! My mother has had the same isssue and this was her course of treatment. Bothe doctors have said that a standerd antibiotic regiment will not clear up staff in people who repeadtly get it. Also, bactrim is the new drug being used to treat is becasue of reistance. i was also tested to see if i carried staph in my nose and my boyfriend was as well to make sure he wasn't passing it to me.

The herpes virus that causes cold sores is not the same as the chickenpox herpes that you can only have one time. If you remember another childhood rash, it was something else. The blood drawer was an ***. File a report at the organization. Their are different types of blood tests for each type of herpes, herpes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc...he would need to specify which herpes he is testing you for. I strongly urge you to file a complaint, once again, against the blood drawer. A sore should be cultured/scraped and analyzed. It's simple...he does not need to guess. Change doctors. Why go to one that you hate? You are hardly ageing; you haven't even reached your prime yet. Look around for a great chiropractor to help you with your neck. Were you in an accident? Could this be whiplash type condition? Get your eyes examine by an opthalmologist to rule out a serious condition. Take action and take responsibility for your health and not blame "bad" professionals. Change doctors to one who will listen.

Impetigo can be caused by either staph or strep, and is often common in rugby players!

I think the lab person meant that most people have the herpes type I virus imbedded in the nerves (from childhood chickenpox). A break in the skin, or sometimes sunburn will cause it to flare up as a cold sore.

I live in the midwest (USA) and saw in today's paper that there is a large outbreak of MRSA in Topeka. Tell your doc to test for it.

Thumbs up Re: My doctor thinks I am coo-coo for coco puffs. I'M NOT, please help.

Thank you for all your help people. The doc tested me for cold sore herpes and said that the test came out normal. Now that I know there are a whole bunch of different tests for that I think I will take everyone's advice and find a new doctor. Mine obviously can't help me if he can't even perform the right tests. I was in a car accident 8 years ago but several I have had several MRI's that say that my neck is normal. I will look up the word you gave me for my neck's popping sounds. Thank you for the information about Staph. I think I will start sticking neosporin in my nose for a while. I got my doctor to give me a Staph test finally and he said that his test doesn't say I have it but he called in anti-biotics I can take anyways. I told him I wouldn't take the anti-biotics because he just said I didn't need them, told me that was MY choice. I have been spitting up blood for close to a week now and I think I really do need to find a new doctor I just don't know what type to go to because of the mulitiple symptoms I have. Thank you also to the person that gave me the link that explains the eye jiggleing, at least it has a name. To the person who gave me the link to the elctromagnetic field thing, THAT IS SOOOO creepy! I thought I was the only one. I used to be like hey, I just felt a TV turn on did you feel that?? People would look at me like I was nuts but I thought everyone could feel those things. It is great to know there are other people out there. Thanks everyone.

You need to see a chiropractor and get x-rays. He or she can help you with your neck. You should NOT hear popping or have the type of pain you have.
For your sores, it sounds like you do have MRSA. This does not mean you are not showering enough. It is an infection. I would ask your doctor to refer you to an infectious disease doc.
    Good lucK!

tests don't come back "normal" for herpes...it is either postive or negative.(or something in between, too)..go get a copy of any of the test results and find a new doctor.
