I'm Lost.
Hello, i am an 18 year old male.
Smoke: Yes
Drink: No
Drugs: No
For the past 2+ months i have been feeling a wide range of symtpoms i cant lead to anything.
It started with one sided heaviness one side of my head, to one sided body weakness. I was consulted by a doctor and he didnt think much of those symptoms. He was more intrested in that i may have double vision. However, i didnt ever really feel or notice this.
I was prescribed Lexapro for anxiety/depression. I took it for abought 5 weeks and noticed that most of the symptoms still exsisted but not as often. I was fed up with lexapro's urge to keep me up at night and i honestly didnt really feel any effects of it. It has been abought 2 weeks now sence i last took lexapro.
For the past 3 weeks i been getting strange involuntary head spasms. I suspect this be to the fact that i need to be on my stomach to fall asleep at night and wake up with mild back pain and neck stiffness.
I noticed a sence of confusion and lack of attention. For the past 4 days i have been experiancing dizziness. Mild case, however it seems to presist more when i stand up or lay down on my back. I also come across a feeling as if my body moves with the beat of my heart. When i lay down my body feels like it is slightly moving to the rythm of my heart?
I thought it upon myself that i am experiancing massive anxiety/depression. I spend most of my life now in fear and worry. I'm losing the energy to do the things i once loved to do before.
If someone can relate or even give me some advise, it would do me a great deal of happiness that u dont know.
Also, i have pending thoughts of trying:
anouther anti-depressant, counseling and most of all quit smoking.

Re: I'm Lost.
doing research on my own condition I found information on heavy metal poisining (mercury etc) which will give you the symptoms that you experience. You could have an overload of mercury in your system which could come from many sources, even from the amalgam in your teeth if you have metal fillings.
Try to do a search on heavy metal poisining and you will find a lot of info. Also how to resolve this condition.
Hope this will help.

Re: I'm Lost.
Hi
please don't give up on harrassing your doctor for some more tests but it could be symptoms of anxiety as i suffer from involuntary head spasms too. i thought i might be developing a nervous twitch or something but have now been plagued by panic attacks too. if you are sleeping on your front make sure that your neck is not in an awkward position as this could trap a nerve and cause your spasms too, have you a stiff neck and clench your jaw without realising?my acupuncturist picked up on this and i wasn't even aware that i was doing it.

Re: I'm Lost.
I had the same symptoms u are having and i acquired PVC's...premature ventricular contractions. The doctor said it was anxiety and smoking. I would get dizzy laying down or even turning in bed and my heart would pound. The doctors told me PVC's are not life threatening and the only thing I could do was avoid anxiety and smoking, or I could take a beta blocker called Coreg. I have been on Coreg since and it really seems to help alot. I do not notice the missing heart beat and I don't have the rush feeling that comes along with it. Talk to you doctor about trying Coreg. Good luck and hang in there.

Hi,could really be symptoms of being nervous. When you are sleeping on your front just make sure that your neck is not in an awkward position as this traps nerves.
refresh our minds cause we got to be ourselves in this world....

Re: I'm Lost.
Like you I am an 18 yr old male
Smoke: Yes
Drink: occasional
Drugs: yes
I am on 20 mg of Lexapro. While I was on 5 initially, and upped to 10, I did not have any serious side effects. However, since my depression got worse, the psychiatrist upped it to 20 mg a day. At that point, I began getting debilitating muscle spasms in my left arm and right leg, and lesser spasms in my right arm and left leg. I get head twitches and involuntary movement, as well as in my hands, and have problems walking. I think that maybe your symptoms can be associated with the Lexapro itself. Atm, you may be still be experiencing the Lexapro withdrawl, which can last a few weeks, and has similar symptoms you are describing. I would consult your psych. about this just to be on the safe side. Time may be the best cure.

Re: I'm Lost.
Usually your first depression med may not be the right one. They often cause muscle twitches as a side effect, too.It may go away in the first two weeks taking your meds. I have heard over and over again that it sometimes takes trying different meds for a while before you find something that works for you. If you know you have depression/anxiety, it should be the first treatment for your symptoms. I found that until I treated my depression I could not get a doctor to take my physical signs seriously. Maybe your physical symptoms will go away once you are properly treated for psychological symptoms. Depression does cause physical pain.
also, maybe you can get referred to physial therapy and maybe start some light exercise program. Smokers often don't get regular exercise. Also, I used to be a smoker, and I know that the chemicals in the cigs could often prevent meds working properly.
Wellbutrin is an antidepressant that has been marketed as an aid to stop smoking (under the name, "Zyban"). Maybe you can kill two birds with one stone.
Good luck!

Re: I'm Lost.
Did you just stop taking the lexapro, or did you gradually taper off? This drug has horrendous discontinuation (aka withdrawal) symptoms if you stop abruptly, even if you were only taking 5 mg dose. These discontinuation symptoms can last 2weeks to over a month. Docs don't really pay attention to this.
Please don't ever just stop taking antidepressent meds. I have seen patients experience twitches, shaking, nervous ticks and even electrical shock sensations after stopping meds like lexapro, celexa (same stupid drug with one molecule changed so they could resell it at full cost!)...
I agree that it takes time to find a good medication to help your depression. In Chinese medicine depression is not a "psychological" disease, but a real disorder involving the liver and spleen. Acupuncture and Chinese medicinals can be very helpful for a lot of your symptoms. It works to rebalance the body. For info visit www.acufinder.com
Best wishes.

Re: I'm Lost.
I have also had the same things happening to me. I have the heaviness on the left side of my head and body. It causes me to feel dizzy and I always feel as though I am rocking back and forth. This all started when I was pregnant with my daughter back in May 06. Not the dizziness, but what felt like sinus problems, confusion, always spacey and out of it. Then a week ago, that's when the one-sided dizziness started. I've been to neurologists, ENT's, had my eyes tested. My MRI's came out clear, as so did all my CT Scan's. I'm lost, I want to just scream, I can't even work, I don't like to go out anywhere, because I always feel like Im going to fall over or I feel like ****. Does anyone know what this could be??
