It sounds to me like a sinus infection. They can be very stubborn. Can you possibly find your way to an Eye, Nose, Throat specialist?

I don't think any traditional American doctors (even assuming there are any on this site) will take you up on that - I'm sure they would want to perform their own physical examination before they offered any diagnosis or treatment.

Thumbs up Re: why no 1 answer my question !!!!!!!!!!

    Suggestions only here:

I'd look for another doctor perhaps unless you already have a doctor you are working closely with (doesn't sound like it) jmo. Perhaps you can find a good DR. in Egypt that was trained in America not that necessarily makes a difference. Your symptoms can be so many different things and thats why it can take time to rule out all the causes of what is happening to you. Do not try to diagnose yourself online... it is not a safe thing to do. If things get real bad for you; can you go to Israel? Don't they have one of the best hospitals in the world in Israel?

So many questions the drs (and some folks here could need to know to give your suggestions as to what to do) need to know answers to you such as .... What kinds of specialists have you seen? What tests were run on you? What were your test results? What medicines did they give you and for how long? Did the treatments help at all? Are you working closely with anyone know as far as doctors go? What things did they rule out and what are they trying to rule out? So many factors to consider for a doctor trying to get the right diagnosis for you and get you better.

BTW The Mediterranian region has so many infectious diseases also that must be ruled out also. Maybe you had an improperly treated infection of some sort; perhaps ineffective medicine regime or not stopped a tx to early. Some tropical disease do affect the eyes sensitivity to light. Did the drs do a spinal tap on you to check the spinal fluid by chance? Did you run any fevers?

As far as the headaches go, has the drs looked into cluster headaches (a form of migraine headache men get more often then women) that are very severe and interfere with living. This is a suggestion, but definetly get the headaches checked out by someone who specializes in severe headaches.
Cluster headaches might be why the antibiotics don't work at all; because they aren't an infection.

You are only 22, so young to be so sick. That age group is suseptible to many nasty viruses like mononucleosis, chicken pox, meningitis, encephilitits tc etc.; especially vulnerable are college students who move into dormatories.

Does your college have a student health services by chance? Hoa about going there even if you already have been there before and tell them you are still sick and it is interferring with you studies and life as a whole.

Btw the way do you have one really good primary care physician; you said you been to so many drs and the college hospital also. It helps to find one really great internal medicine dr to put all the results together and come up with the answer sometimes.

Sadly, some health problems take awhile to get diagnosed. You just have to keep searching and pressing your doctors for the answers you need. And if you get a dr who doesn't seem to listen good; well try to get him or her to if you can. And if they won't listen and your gut instincts say they need to because you feel real bad; then you look for somebody else who will listen and try to help you.

Hang in there. Try to keep hopeful during the difficult times. Keep us posted as to your progress (good or bad both) so we can learn from it also.

In all, suggestion-wise I say just get back in and see a excellent and very experienced non-arrogant & open-monded dr who will listen to you and examine you some more to rule out a bunch of stuff like migraine type headaches, sinus infection, tropical diseases including parasites, and the many other things that can mess with your health and life.

I wish you well and hope you soon get your answers and find a treatment to get you feeling better soon.

    Physicians List

The majority of Egyptian physicians are English speaking and many have studied in the United States or Europe. The better hotels have house doctors available at all times. However, should medical attention be required, the following list of doctors and hospitals may be of use.
The Embassy assumes no responsibility for the professional ability of the persons whose names appear in the list. The specialties are arranged alphabetically and the order in which they or the names of the doctors appear has no other significance. Doctors marked with (*) were educated in the United States while doctors marked with (#) are currently licensed and (**) able to write prescriptions for use in the United States.
