Default Very sensitive skin around anus after rash

About a year ago now I had a REALLY sore/itchy rash down my backside - so much so that it was hard to walk/sit down.

During this time I went to about 5 doctors including 2 specialists. The doctors believed it to be a fungal infection, and as such I was applying different creams (each dr seemed to give me a different variation of the same thing).

Anyway, the rash subsided in about 1.5 months. After this however, I have been left with a very sensitive area around my anus.

Basically if I wipe too much (which isn't a lot) or too hard (which isn't hard) the area starts bleeding. I have tried all variations of toilet paper/wipes - but the area is just too sensitive now after the rash (and this is 4 months on).

On the flip side, If I don't clean the area thoroughly then it seems to get irrated and sore throughout the day.

What seems to be working atm is, once I go the toilet (#2) I try and have a bath and wash the area that way. This seems to fix the problem, at least until I go the toilet again, or play a sport (see below).

However, the option to have a bath after toileting is not always available to me, and if I play sports and the area gets sweaty the same problem/irritation arises, I can not ride bikes either - as that causes the area to hurt.

I really don't know what to do. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I think it was shingles or herpes 2. You should get blood tested to determine what is causing the problem. There are some good things at the health food store. Cruise the ointment counter.

Are you under a lot of stress? I recently read something about a woman with a very sore **** from a weepy, itchy rash going through a divorce. Don't know if you are a man or woman, whatever, but I would guess a Candida overgrowth. Ask your doc to give you some oral Diflucan, maybe a couple of doses (1 pill taken first week, then the other one). Did anyone mention if you have hemorrhoids? Or you might have the adult equivalent of diaper rash. Try some simple remedies that are given to women with Candidiasis. (and babies). Cotton or no underwear whenever possible. Let the area breathe! Try a diaper rash cream like Desitin. Fragrance-free detergent for everything, mild sunlight exposure (easier said than done), no tanning beds though because you will sweat and aggravate the rash. Use baby-wipes to clean yourself. Sitz baths are warm water only soaks. Given the large area of the rash, use a soap-free bath-tub. De-stress yourself. Look into anti Candida diets, basically sugar free.

Sometimes what you eat can effect your other end. Eat a really bland diet.

Could be not taking a shower often enough.

There is a skin condition which can cause those similar symptoms and it starts very much in the same way. Both men and women get it but it affects each person in a different area and a different manner.

If you've ruled out everything else, see a dermatologist. I know, sounds strange, but this condition can't usually be diagnosed by a physician because they don't know enough about it. Most dermatologists will perform a biopsy, small amount of tissue from the area to determine what it is. Some dermatologist don't need to biopsy it and will know the case.

One such condition is called Lichen Sclerosus and it responds exactly as you describe. It worsens over time without proper treatment. There's another one too, can't remember the name.

    Dear All,
I have discovered a site (HTTP:WWW.DIGITALNATUROPATH.COM/COND/C679209.HTML)that may be the solve-all for our itchy, rashy anal skin problems....It encorporates different strokes for different folks...For instance, in my case I have a combination of problems that probably caused my anal turmoil... I've been eating too many tomatoes, citris, and other foods that have aggrivated this along with the fact that I have fissures and have been using Anucort and have also been on antibiotics and Previcid.....For myself, I'm going to void the biotics, acid reducer, Anucort, and foods that I deduct have caused this anul nusance and see if I can get back to normal...I just ground some flax seeds for my fiber intake......I have only experienced this for the past few months and it has been most unsettling....I do trust this site will not only help me discover a remedy, but for all of you who are suffering with this awfulness....If any of the advice that this site offers is helpful to any of us, please post the good news.........We could all use some anal joy!

Exactly the same problem for me too - still searching for answers
    my story
About 1 and half yrs ago. Started as sore anus area, slight rash
Then rapidly spread between buttocks and even scrotum and ***** area
Was treated as fungal infection at first as well. But it is NOT. Have seen 2 dermatologists. Tried many Different creams Canisten etc. All waste of time and money
In total I have seen 6 doctors and still No answers. Tried the Natural path route. Diet elimination etc. Just lost 50 lbs and got week. Tried another natural path " colon cleanse route but that did nothing.
Main rash has settled down but the anus and close proximity is still quite raw and sore. Skin on ***** is still very red and sore. Stress seems to aggravate as well.
Baby powder helps a bit but it feels like something is living inside me or on me.
It's ruining my life and it's very hard to function. Extremely uncomfortable . I did have poison Sumach infection 20 years ago in which spread over my entire body and turned into infatego issue. I was warned back then that it may cause future problems.
4 years ago my appendix burst and I was hospitalized for 7 days and major infections after that. Maybe these 2 major events have something to do with it?
I am very desperate. I am on the waiting list for a colonoscopy but not sure when it will be.
    Please HELP me - anyone?

I suggest taking a mega dose of vitamin C(3 to 10,000 mgs a day preferably the liposomal form daily until it clears up and also take alluminum, free baking soda orally each day mixed with water to alkalise your blood which will fight off any fungal infections and bacteria. also Ive heard of honey treatments. place honey on the infected area. good luck to you all

Hi. I too am suffering from something very similar. I have been looked at by varrious docs and they seem to think i have had a fissure at some point and that has made the skin very sensitive. I wash my bottom with warm water and cotton wool and use vasaline. any thing else makes it split (not just in one place) and takes ages to heal. It is sensitive all of the time though and i am constantly aware of that area throughout the day, especially after long peroids of sitting down or long walks. I am not sure if this is something i will have to learn to live with and manage or if there is a cure for it? I have stopped drinking and eating varrious foods too, coffee, citrus, spicey etc etc. Any new ideas would be very welcome to this distressing condition. I have also lost loads of weight due to being scared to have a bm, i thought if i cut my food intake down, it reduces the anount of times i go in a day! Seems to work, and i needed to lose some flab anyway. Shame im too stressed about my *** to enjoy being thin for a change!! Good luck to us all.
