Default Unexplained constant nausea with tenderness below sternum

Hi all. I have seen many doctors about my profile to no avail. All tests come back normal and no one has any idea what is wrong with me. I am a very healthy 24 year old white male.

For almost two years, I have been continually nauseous. Sometimes I am more nauseous than others, but I am always nauseous. Yes, it is as bad as it sounds. I never vomit nor have the urge to vomit. No, it is not GERD.

I could go on and on listing all the things that have been ruled out but figure that someone may have heard of this particular situation. I also have this tenderness/pain about an inch below my sternum. In other words, if I press in deeply below my sternum it hurts very much, almost like the nausea originates from that point. And yes, my abdominal CT and gallbladder ultrasound were both normal.

Although I have found no patterns in my diet, since I am nauseous all the time, I still am hoping/think this is a food intolerance that I have not yet figured out. And no, I am not gluten intolerant.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Could be chronic pancreatitis or gallstones.

I am guessing all of the normal gallbladder and liver things have been ruled out. Only suggestion I have is inflammation of some sort?

I had/have that exact same thing. I recently went to the doctor and was put on keflex 500mg for an ear infection and meclizine 25mg for the nausea. I was finally (after almost 4 months) relieved of the nausea, and the abdominal pain. I felt almost 100% better for about 1 1/2 days, now it comes and goes...we'll see. You should have your ears checked (like I did) and probably have them do an MRI or CT scan of your head (which is what I want.)

Dear Pianoman, the best advice I can give is to find a doctor who does NAET or Bioset therapy. Nausea is a symptom when many things do not "agree" with your body. Almost like an allergic reaction but instead of getting itchy, watery eyes, you are having nausea. Bioset works in a fashion that allows your body to accept and not "reject" certain things. Many people are "allergic" to many things. This seems to be quite prevelant and it seems to be manifesting differently in each person who experiences it.
Try it, you will not be disaappointed.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Yes, my guess is also that it is some sort of inflammation in the area right under my sternum. Underneath the skin, that would be the left lobe of the liver and then my stomach, and then just the tissue of the omentum. Since all my tests were normal, I am thinking it is some type of inflammation caused by a food intolerance.

Thank you for the advice about nausea medication but I really want to figure out the cause. Also, I recently had my ears checked- which are also fine.

I have a thought. I believe that my problem may not be my stomach at all. In fact, it is likely I am irritating my liver. After some more research, I discovered fructose intolerance. Fructose is mainly digested by the liver and often causes problems. I do eat many fruits, whole grains, and vegetables, which are all either loaded with fructose or broken down into fructose. I am going to try a low fructose diet and see what happens. Anyone have any thoughts?

Have you had a blood test to check for the H Pylori bacteria? It sounds like you are going through what I have. My test came back positive and they put me on an aggressive antibiotic treatment. Just a thought. Good luck, I know its horrible to feel that way.

I do have the same problem along with many other symptoms. Mine went undiagnosed for a few years and it is caused by vitamin D deficiency. All of my tests always came back normal as well, so I know how frustrating it is. I also can sympathize with the nausea. I have to take phenergan 3 times a day to control it and sometimes that does not even help. Living a healthy lifestyle does not mean you body will react the way you want it to. My vitamin D deficiency, which causes the nausea, pain and sometimes vomiting is caused by gastric bypass. However, anyone can have a vitamin deficiency if their body does not absorb vitamins.

How did you find out it was from a vitamin D deficiency?
