Re: fibromyalgia
I have fibromyalgia, too. It's funny that people seem to think it's made up or a "wastebasket" disease. I wish those people could feel what I feel every day. They would never judge us again. Sometimes we look "normal" and people don't understand why we sometimes can't get out of bed. I have a question.... are any of you dealing with knots in your muscles that are always there? I've noticed small pea size knots in my deltoids (shoulders), on top of my shoulders, and down where the shoulder blades are. I want to know if this is common for people with fibromyalgia.

Re: fibromyalgia
I did want to mention that when my doctor put me on Lyrica, it helped with the pain immensly. Lyrica is an anti-seizure drug that is usually used for diabetic peripheral neuropathy or shingles nerve pain. But is being used more and more for patients with fibromyalgia. It cut my pain down by 4/5ths.

Hi - I'm Lee, and I have fibro. I wish I could find a doctor that will prescribe meds without worrying about addiction!!! I would rather they worry about getting rid of the pain!!
Bluemacaw - check out Myofascial Pain Syndrome. One of the symptoms is small hard lumps in the muscles.
Best of luck to us all!!

Lee (and others)
I am so with you about the pain med addiction!!!!! What the heck! What would you be addicted to? PAIN RELIEF!!!!!!!!!????????
I don't care about addiction at this point. I am suicidal, which is worse?
I called my neuro crying with the pain, his answer was to refer me to a pain clinic. He said they would call and set up an appointment......that was 3 months ago....still waiting for that call.
My pain is now so bad I have lost my job, come close to divorce and actively plan my suicide on a dialy basis.
I saw someones post about Stiff Person Syndrome. That sounds more like what I have...plus it is associated with Prediabetes, which I just found out I have, along with PCOS.
I just want something for the pain!!!!!! I have neurontin, but it does nothing for the stiffness.

Is it possible to have Fibromyalgia in just certain parts of your body. Such as an arm? But only one arm? Or just one leg?

Re: fibromyalgia
I too suffer from Fibro and lose about 8 days a month to it; this is when I can't function well enough to leave my home. Sometimes the pain is awful, but it pales to the loss of life from fatigue. I take SAM-EE which seems to help and my doctor prescribed Nortriptyline, from which some fibro patients find relief. I keep trying to increase my exercise, but I get knocked by down repeatedly.
Know you are not alone. Maybe together we will figure out some help.

Re: fibromyalgia
Hi,
We are here! We know exactly what you are going through. Look at my post "I have been misdiagnosed twice" and another post from a woman "I'm new here". You can see our stories and how we relate. We would be glad to give you any advice or answer any questions you may have. Some of us have been living with this for a little bit longer, so we may be able to tell you some things you don't already know, and that your doctor probably won't tell you.
