Breast Bruise or Lump ..
Hi everyone this is my first time on these boards, im in need of some advice. I have found a redish/sometimes purple/black place on the under part of my breast it has been there for about 4months. I went and saw a doctor three months or so ago, she said "its a bruise you prob hit it on something, if it doesnt go away in a week or so call me..I knew I hadnt hit it on anything but she is the doctor not me"<== she didnt seem to worried.
The place didnt go away in a week , so I decided to give it a few more days and it never dissappeared, so I called her again.. the same doctor was suppose to make me an appointment with a specialist for something else and still hasnt, all and all she just doesnt seem to care. I have recently been looking for a new doctor. =( The place hasnt went away in four months so it is not a bruise.. I have added some photos in the links below of the spot, and maybe some of you can give me some information or input, it really has me worried. The pictures are cropped just so you can see the place and nothing else, dont worry. Thanks in advance everyone.

Re: Breast Bruise or Lump ..
Hi Aleeluh,
I don't know what else it could be but something I think is awfully scary. On the other hand, better to know early.
To me it looks like something called "Inflammatory Breast Cancer" and is rare, and often not properly diagnosed. I only heard of it because my sister-in-law sent me an email about it some time ago.
Here is a web page about it: http://www.ibcresearch.org/
And one of the signs is a bruise that doesn't go away. From the pictures you put up, and the pictures I've seen, if this is what you have, you have a mild case of it right now. Which is very good.
Don't go back to the doctor who isn't understanding this. You need to go to a breast cancer specialist, and either diagnose IBC, or rule it out. And do it right away, since this cancer sometimes moves fast. If a doctor you go to doesn't know about Inflammatory Breast Cancer, find one who does. Do not stay with a doctor who isn't already familiar.
I'm glad you posted. Please post back with updates.
Best,
Shula

Re: Breast Bruise or Lump ..
Thanks Shula, I am going to a new doctor this week. The thing is I live in a very small town, we dont really have specialists here.. I may have to do some research on a doctor out of town(the nearest "bigger' town is around 2 hours away =(. I will read more about the subject, thanks so much for the information -I have been really worried. I will get back to you as soon as I find anything out.

Re: Breast Bruise or Lump ..(Updated with more questions)
So I went to my doctor last week, and she had me get an ultra sound done, and I just got home. While I was there the lady was training another woman, and somethings she said were : She saw the spot in my breast but said it was so small she could barely see it , and also a few more "lump or spots" that were small but didnt look the same, as she looked around she also mention a large calcium deposit, or so it seemed(she really didnt know what the heck it was from the way she acted, just a big blob of something really)
Does anyone know anything , or can give me anymore information, anything else I should ask my doctor when she gets back to me? Anything anyone can speculate about the situation?
-Thanks in advance
Alee

Where is the closest big city? Locate a cancer center there and make an appointment with a breast cancer specialist. You won't have peace of mind until you do. I do believe to rule out IBC, they need to take a biopsy.

Did you see your doctor? What did she say?

Re: Breast Bruise or Lump ..
Hi
I too have a larger bruise and now a swollen lymph node. I am getting a mammogram done next week. It has been almost a month since I 'noticed' the bruising. I hope you get your answers too. I will let you know what comes of mine.
I got directly booked into an appointment because of the 'lump' or what I think is my lymph node. If you call direct to a mammogram clinic you might be able to get in without a referral if you have a lump or other concern. Hope this helps. Good luck.
