Re: Thyroid Cancer Prognosis
My husband had medullary thryroid cancer 4 years ago and had his thyroid and 2 ofthe four parathyroids removed. The surgery went well he was a bit husky afterwards but no long term problem. No his diet is the same as always, lots of fruit and veg. He takes T3, T4, and sometimes Calcichew depending on his calcium levels. He sees the specialist regularly, has various scans yearly including PET, CT and MIBG.
Good luck don't worry too much find yourself a good surgeon and make sure you ask lots of questions and keep a copy of all your notes - they do get lost quite frequently.

Re: Thyroid Cancer Prognosis
i had thyroid cancer and have been on synthroid for almost 2 years -- i have had very strange symptoms the last 6 months -- feel horrible -- started with a not sleeping ...rash -- then heart pounding -- pulse racing 190/110-- jitters -- weight loss..hissing in ears (then dr sent me to ER ...they did nothing but take money ) was told i was a " head case" by many doctors -- even asked about the surgery scare on my throat -- i want to change to amour... my brother says a friend changed and has had great results -- my doctor keeps checking test results and says everything is fine -- well...it's not fine in my body and my mind is working well !! i agree with the "be your own primary care doctor " statement !!!i also suffer from allergies -- but lord knows.. they may be caused by the synthroid -- life was great til oct of 07 ... now i am getting the bums rush from my doctors -- i am seeing an allergist on the 23rd but after reading all of this -- i'm not sure she will help -- i think my w/ my endo -- not sure of anything anymore -- anyone out there got any ideas?? i have always said it is the synthroid but no doctors will listen !!

these symptoms you are complaining of is similar to the symptoms of hyperthyrodism. Which also it can be due to high levels of synthroid causing similar symptoms. You can see an endocrinologist to help you adjusting your dose.
wishing you the best.

Re: Thyroid Cancer Prognosis
my endo refuses to see any of these symptoms as related to the synthroid -- i talked to abbott labs and they agreed with u and said i could be allergic- stoppe synthroid and started armour thyroid -- feel like a totally different person -- still some rash but all other symptoms are gone!!!! see endo on friday -- internist has pretty much taken over and made me feel great again - tho he says synthroid can hang around awhile -- he thinks rash will clear !! i'd really like your opioions -- i'm blondecopper@cs.com ---
thanks for your input -- eddi
