Short term memory loss due to marijuana abuse
Hi all,
I would like to ask if anyone knows of any medicinal treatments for short term memory loss. i used alot of marijuana many years ago and feel that my memory function has severely suffered as a result. Does anyone know of specific treatments or specific doctors who treat this affliction ? Is it reversable ?

Re: Short term memory loss due to marijuana abuse
As far as I know it is not reversible. If and I use that term loosely( I am not sure I believe it really damages the brain the way they said it does) If there is actual damage you can not repair damaged brain tissue. However you can take some herbal supplements along with using brain strengthening techniques and your brain will make new neuro pathways to bypass any "damage". The reason I know this is because I have MS so I have lesions on my brain that cause misfires so to speak. I truly believe the fact that I smoked marijuana almost for a good ten years, that is the reason why I went so long without even realizing I had MS. )I had some serious symptoms as far back as 12. Although that is because I can look back in retrospect. Memory loss is a major issue. Fish oil (Norwegian Salmon Oil off brands can contain mercury) is a must for me. I also write lots of lists and do brain exercises. This site here has some free games that "exercise" the brain in several different ways. I hope I have been helpful. http://www.memory-improvement-tips.com/brain-games.html

Marijuana, cocaine, etc. those kind of addictive drug can suddenly improve brain power for limited time but gradually destroy brain power. After leaving those drugs, gradually brain power will be normal.

Re: Short term memory loss due to marijuana abuse
Suddengust~~ My answer was addressing memory loss and brain damage in general giving an answer to the first inquiry stating (I would like to ask if anyone knows of any medicinal treatments for short term memory loss.) Then the Paul80 said, ( i used alot of marijuana many years ago and feel that my memory function has severely suffered as a result. Does anyone know of specific treatments or specific doctors who treat this affliction ? Is it reversable ? If you actually read my post you will see that I said, " If and I use that term loosely( I am not sure I believe it really damages the brain the way they said it does. If there is actual damage you can not repair damaged brain tissue."I did address the fact that brain damage is not reversible, however I never said that marijuana caused the brain damage. I actually said, " I truly believe the fact that I smoked marijuana almost for a good ten years, that is the reason why I went so long without even realizing I had MS. )I had some serious symptoms as far back as 12. Although that is because I can look back in retrospect." I just wanted to clear up the fact that I never said marijuana absolutely causes brain damage. I said "IF" and that I personally believed not only did it not cause any damage but that it had been beneficial to me because I have MS.
