I cannot bend my knee all the way.. Help!
Hello, this is my first telling anyone about my condition..
When i was 3yrs old my brother & i were wrestling when he bent my knee, all i can rememember is that it was a horrible pain & i was limping for about 1 day.
My mother never took me to a Dr. So i grew up without worrying about it. I could run, walk ,play,EXCEPT bending my knee 100%
My dilema is .... I still have this problem, i can walk and excersize but i sometimes have a sharp pain on my knee & sometimes it starts to hurt. I cant over work my knee because this pain comes when i do. The leg that i have the knee problem is slighly skinnier that the other one where i have no problem.
Does someone know what kind of specialist i need to see?? Or what can be causing my condition.
Any suggestions will be a great help.

I am a physical therapist. As to what kind of a specialist to see, I would recommend an orthopedic physician. He/she can evaluate the knee and do any diagnostic testing to determine the cause. A lack of knee bending generally is not that great of an issue, as long as you have enough range to do functinal activities. If, however, the knee is painful and not functioning there may be an internal issue that is causing your pain. An MRI will help determine that. It could be related to a meniscus tear as sometimes they can block range of motion. However, as your injury is rather old it could be related to a number of issues.
Seek help from an orthopedic doctor and get a complete evaluation.
