Re: Abdominal and leg pain
I have had 11 surgeries for endo + 2 to remove tumors from my ovaries, all were before my 20th birthday. I started seeing an herbalist and acupuncturist which led to relief and within a few years I had two children. I'm now 32 and have not had a period in several years so things aren't perfect, but years without surgery was an amazing new thing for me. I was hoping the pregnancies rewired things a bit. And now, suddenly I have a return of this abdominal/left leg pain. I have been in a ball today for the first time in over a decade and can't believe I forgot how bad this could be.---Your talk of the docs reaction reminded of just how many horrible layers come with this sort of pain. It really is a nightmare and I feel for you. I had my first surgery at 11-after several docs got over themselves and the fact that no endo does not just stike women over 40. (it was the popular belief back then)
The adhesions from the many surgeries had done a number on me as well to where (I was told) they caused more than half of the pain I had after the third surgery as well as an unnatural degree of constipation. I was often told they worsen the pain that we are discussing here by doing exactly what endo does in wrapping up our insides. The colon lets out on the left side so it's common for constipation to lead to compressing nerves which cause pain/weakness in the left leg and then you add some adhesions to the mix and it's debilitating.
I'm curious about how this turned out for you all these months later? I figure I will go to the acupuncturist tomorrow, do an abdominal massage tonight and perhaps pick up some prune juice tomorrow. If it is still hurting this badly on Monday I will have to check in with the Dr and keep my fingers crossed that the endo hasn't returned for an encore.
Good luck to you.

Re: Abdominal and leg pain
hi everybody,
Ive noticed most of yall are females that I can see but im a male and am going thru the same thing left leg hurting from behind along with my abdomen went to a hospital last night and they sent me home saying the same thing yall have said but can I ask yall if yall experienced extreme weight loss, or loss of appetite, I inherited stomach problems from my mother but she herself has never experienced the leg cramps with anything, anyways after the hospital sent me home after waiting 14 hours to get seen my sister calls the er administrator for the hosital she sounded furious about my treatment, and told me of a gastro dr to go and see. my grandfather died 30 some years ago and I believe my mother said that he too hed extreme stomach probs, he was wearing a colostophy bag (excuse my spelling please) when he passed also like the rest of yall it affects me sleeping, working , and even driving my truck due to it being a 5 speed but anyways the dr thinks im going crazy everyone that ive talked to said sounds like pancreatitis minus the leg pain of coarse, but if they would have done an xray they would have noticed my pelvic bone is shifted up on one side therfore I was starting to beleive that could be the reason for my leg pain but on the otherhand why would all of yall be experiencing the same things if any one knows what I might be going thru please let me know because im getting more and more paranoid bout my self and by the way can yall believe this one perticular er dr says stomach problems is not hereditary? in that case why does all the women and men in my family all have indometriosis or however you say it does anyone know if that is hereditary? please ive got a million questions and I too am tired of hurting!

Re: Abdominal and leg pain
Dear Elenor & everyone else, I had a doctor tell me that my pain was all in my head too once, just last year matter of fact. I had something in my foot, and it was sever foot pain that lead to abdominal pain && leg pain. I couldnt walk for almost 6 months, 1st week i go to him and tell him that everytime i put pressure on the foot i fall to the ground because somethings severly wrong with it. Well my doc kept telling me "Addie , its all in your head sweety" or something along the lines of "No no no, thats not possible, those pains are only made up just because you want attention" , well i said to **** with that and so after all his BULL i went to a foot doctor.. but by time i got done with my ex-doctors idiotcy, i was almost a year in to all this pain...so when i got to the foot doc. he rushed me into surgery and he told me that if i had let it sit in the one more day, then i would have been paralyized from the belly button down. So i would give a hoot about what he says, doctors are alittle more crazy than we are some time. Im only 16 so could you imagen a 16 year old being paralyized from the stomache and down, (UM NO!!) ... so my prayers go out to all of yall!
Im much better. & GOOD LUCK TO YALL, ONCE AGAIN MY PRAYERS TO EVERYONE!!!!
<3, Addie Jan

Re: Abdominal and leg pain
It sounds like you have endured a lot, and I'm sorry for that. Doctors don't need patients to self-diagnose. That's like one of your clients telling you how to take pictures properly. If you are getting turned away from doctors, they may be trying to tell you something. Think about
It. They are turning down a PAYING patient because they can't help you. It sounds like you're more into holistic methods, so maybe try acupuncture? I have heard good things from both science people and holistic people, so maybe it will help. It's okay to cry when you Talk to a doc, but you should probably talk to a professional about your feelings as well. Being in that kind of pain can leave mental/emotional scars as well. Don't give up hope! I hope you find spmething that will help, but you won't if you stop looking!

Re: Abdominal and leg pain
One doctor said my foot pain was in my head but the x ray report that I asked for said I had a fractured foot.
Doctors said that my chest pain was because I listen to my heart to much.
Well years later a doctor who did an ECG said I had had a heart attack.
I had abdominal pains, doctor said it was just anxiety.
I was having a kidney stone attack.
Anyone with bowel problems should try: a gluten free diet.
(look it up on the internet).
In one month now I feel a lot better and I don't wake up feeling like I've been run over by a bus.
Don't wait to have the idiot doctor's permission to try it.
And you will be eating healthier foods.
I eat a lot of potatoes at every meal, salads, and homemade soups.

Re: Abdominal and leg pain
Dear Eleanor, what a terrible doctor you had! Good riddance to him I'd say! Left abdom. pain and leg pain/weakness can DEFINATELY be linked. I have had this problem since the (difficult and prolonged) birth of my first child 10 years ago. Although the abdom pain is not usually severe in my case, more like a constant nagging hard ache, it gets worse during menstruation, sometimes throbbing, sometimes sharp and burning, and then the leg pain starts and I find it difficult to put my left foot down flat, or to put any weight on my left heel. Had a second child 7 years ago, normal delivery but haemorrhage afterwards, and the abdom/leg problem has continued. An additional complication for me is that 5 years ago started trying for our third and final child, but have suffered 7 confirmed first trimester miscarriages (but I suspect there have been many more very early ones before pregnancy test). The same abdom pain worsens as soon as I fall pregnant, and becomes SEVERE with every miscarriage. Every miscarriage has started with vaginal bleeding following bowel movements. I am 100% convinced the pain is somehow related to both my uterus and my bowel, but NHS gynae and gastro specialists have both said that's not possible. Have recently paid for private gastro consultation, and he at least said it needs further investigation and has booked me for colonoscopy next week. Fingers crossed, I am so desperate to find an answer. I KNOW my symptoms are not in my imagination, so I sympathise with how you feel. Even if my chance for a third child has passed (I'm nearly 41), I just want to find out what's wrong and get it treated if possible. I really hope you have luck in finding a better doctor who will take you seriously. Have you considered a colonoscopy test, or even an investigative lapascotomy? With best wishes. Jane

Re: Abdominal and leg pain
Hi everyone,
Just desperately hoping for some answers, my partner has been in hospital for about a week now with sever pains to her lower abdomen, lower back and now her legs but mainly her left leg.
she is 8 weeks pregnant and has been vomiting severly for quite some time, she doesn't feel that it is pregnancy related but the doctors won't listen.
after a few weeks of vomiting and lower abdominal pain she noticed small amounts of blood in her vomit, so we went to the ER.
The surgeon kept insisting it was pregnancy related even though she was in the same hospital with the same symptoms 4 months earlier.
after days of negative tests including multiple blood tests, urine samples, ultrasounds and an MRI, a sharp pain started going down her legs, mainly the left leg.
The surgeon said it was impossible and instead of putting her on to the medical team like he said he would he has sent a physcologist, the physcologist told me she was mentally fine and she would continue to review.
now they sent her to another hospital that specialises in pregnancies and they said everything was fine.
after being transferred back again, they just want to discharge her even though the pain is still too severe for her to walk.
if anyone has any ideas, i would be forever thankfull as this is the second time she's been hospitilised with no diagnosis and i dont see it being likely to improve in the later stages of pregnancy.
Thankyou
Nathan

Re: Abdominal and leg pain
According to Wrongdiagnosis symptom checker, with the 3 symptoms, that leaves 6 possible conditions. See them here, partway down the page

Re: Abdominal and leg pain
I have had severe stomach problems off and on for years. Cramps in my lower abs, legs, hips, constipation, diahrea, bloating, gas, etc. My brother has Crohns so I have been thru every test you can imagine. My latest attack wasnt going away....I had problems every day for 4 months...I went back to a NEW Dr. Got all the tests doen again but he made me do 3 new tests. Hydrogen Breath Test, one for each: Fructose, Lactose, and Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO). Fructose was overwhelmingly POSITIVE...apparently I am VERY sensitive to Fructose....its called Dietary Fructose Intolerance or Fructose Malabsorption. Basically my body does not make the enzyme to break it down so it causes all of my issues. Fructose is a natural sugar you find in most fruits and some vegetables but the main enemy is WHEAT! Yes, Wheat. I am on a gluten free diet becuase that is the only way I am garaunteed to NOT eat Wheat...gluten is not my problem. I cant eat most fruits, fruitjuices, artificial sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup, brown sugar etc. The only sugar I can have is pure cane sugar in VERY SMALL doses per day. They used to lump this condition with IBS but they are finding out its its own thing. Plus its not widely recognized in the US but its huge in Australia and getting bigger in Europe. It was a major change but well worth it! I lost some weight, I have no more issues (unless I eat something that I didnt realize was bad for me) and I have more energy and feel like myself again. Maybe you should see a Gastro and request the 3 Breath Test. You may have problem with the fiber and so on you are eating. Good Luck!!!
