I am a 32 year old woman who is currently 15 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. I have nerve pain in my epigastric area (any and all GI tests/scopes have been performed and nothing was ever found, save a hiatal hernia) which stems from a laproscopic cholysectomy I had done two years ago. My pain was managed completely on 600 mg of Lyrica prior to becoming pregnant. The lowest dose that I have still felt the pain well enough controlled on while I was being tapered down and off the Lyrica, was 300 mg (100 mg/3x daily). Since I have become pregnant, no one will treat the pain appropriately because they are fearful of possible side effects of the medication on the baby. Primary Dr's and Ob's keep throwing me back and forth between each other and the ER in an effort to put the "liability" on someone other than themselves and it is grossly unfair to me and my baby. I realize there may be a risk involved, but at this point I feel that the benefit clearly outweighs the risk because I am losing weight at the rate of several pounds a week because I am unable to eat or sleep because of the severity of my pain. The only thing I am being given is opiate narcotics, which quite honestly do nothing at all for my pain. Please, someone help me! I live in Broome County, NY, but would travel anywhere in the state to get this resolved!

I am doing a course in tech to get into university, I have to do a research paper, I have chosen " do Caesarean sections increase the risk of postnatal depression more than natural/vaginal births"

I chose this as I have had 7 pregnancies, 3 resulted in a miscarriage and I I had 3 c-sections and one natural birth, I found I struggled with post natal depression.

It is a very short survey, anonymous and does not require any details or subscriptions. Could you help me by filling it in??

Hi all. First of all, this is on behalf of my sister, who's been having ongoing issues since having her first child 10 months ago.

Story started 30weeks into her pregnancy: she'd always been normo/mildly hypotensive. At 30 weeks she had a BP of 140/90ish. She was later diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and had a caesar ~4 weeks premmy. Her BP never normalised postpartum, with her diastolic BP hovering around the 100 mark ever since, despite being on ACE-inhibitors, losing weight (fluid and fat mass), and watching diet closely (sodium etc).

She's just had bloods taken: apparently, potassium levels "very high" and iron levels "very low". Doctor seemed hesitant about giving her iron supplements due to her blood pressure (?). None of them seem too sure about the next step.

If anyone has any ideas, we'd be hugely grateful! Any ideas on what could be causing the (ongoing) hypertension, the potassium or iron levels, and what could be linking them? Definitely something related to the pregnancy still, or possible that something else coincidentally struck at the same time? Also, any knowledge re: iron supplementation + hypertension? My uneducated mind says that yeh, if her iron (and haematocrit) is high, then further increasing it could cause issues, but would any increase in BP be found by just returning iron levels to healthy ranges?

A lot of info, and a lot of questions, I know. Any help would be immensely appreciated, though.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

Hey everyone, I'm 15 weeks pregnant, 19 years old, otherwise healthy. I was getting ready for college this morning and I suddenly got the most intense pain in my lower back - around the kidney region - on my right side. It felt as though the muscle had completely seized up and the pain was so bad it made me sick. I couldn't stand up straight, walk properly, or breathe properly. I lay down on my bed and when the pain got a little bit better I got into a hot bath and that helped slightly. Now I've been lying down for about an hour and the pain is getting steadily worse, and has spread to the centre the left side of my back. It feels similar to an extremely severe menstrual cramp, only on my back. I'm also quite nauseous and my abdomen is beginning to feel as it would during a period - slightly crampy and generally bloated.

I'm fairly sure it is not a kidney infection, as I went to the doctor a week ago suspecting I had a UTI and she analyzed my urine but couldn't find anything wrong with it.

Has anybody else experienced a similar pain? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi I need some help as the doctors at the hospital could not explain to me what has gone on with my body. I am 24 years of age and currently on the contraceptive pill. I was expecting my period on the 17/7/2012 but it didnt come. I left it a little while before I became worried as I am not always very regular. On the 26/07/12 my partner noticed my breasts where slightly bigger and I had developed stretchmarks across them. I was also very moody and emotional and cried a lot over silly things. I took a home test on 28 and 29th of July both Negative. However my sypmtoms were pointing to pregnancy with stretch marks across breasts, larger breasts with a burning sensation on/in nipples, large brown nipples, feeling sick and not wanting food, needing to pee more and very emotional. I also felt different.
I took another pregnancy test on 31July and got a very faint positive so I tested again with a clear blue digital test on the 1/8/12 and got a pregnant 1-2 weeks. I took another test to confirm this on the 2/8/12 (another clear blue digital but from a seperate pack) and again received another positive 1-2 weeks.
I was delighted and told a few close family members. However on the 4/8/12 I had some heavy bleeding which was very sudden and I also had lower back pains and stomach pains. My sister in law said it may be nothing and not to worry, however the bleeding continued although became lighter through to sunday. On sunday evening i noticed some small black clots with the blood and went to the hospital.
They took some of my blood and tested it as well as my urine but it came back saying I was not pregnant and had no trace of any pregnancy hormones. I can't understand how this is possible as I had 3 possitive pregnancy tests, lots of obvious symptons and yety the doctor said I was not and had not been pregnant.
I need peoples help as I cannot understand how 3 possitive tests from 3 seperate packs as well as various sympoms could be 'wrong'. Has this happened to anyone else? I feel like I'm going mad, my partner and friend saw the possitive tests and I also have photos of them as well. Did I miscarry? It felt like I did yet the Drs said it was just my period however it didnt feel like a period and only lasted 2 days where my normal period lasts 4-6 days.
Someone please help me, I feel like I'm going mad. If you have any idea of what could have happened please get in touch I really need answers as I'm finding it hard to just move on with my life.
Thank you.

She is now pregnant and worried that she might pass it on to her baby. Does anyone know what tests, if there are any, they can run pre-birth and post-birth to see if the baby has it? At around calendar day 18 (May 21) and for the following couple of days I had the egg white cervical mucus. My husband an I had sex almost each day for a week (to compensate for my long cycle previously). It has now been about 10 days and on two of the days my cervical mucus had a fleck of brownish blood (too much info sorry!!) only on one occasion each of the days. I am feeling slightly bloated and had very minor occasional cramp/twinges and have felt like ive had wind every morning for the last 5 days (working nightshift so after midnightish for about 4-5 hours) what do people think....??? Hoping to get a positive result but due to inconsistent cycles my next period will be due around June 6 ish.. Maybe lol
